Admin Vista Posted January 15, 2016 Admin Report Posted January 15, 2016 And if you remember that slogan you are officially old! Seriously though, I can't believe the Intercity 125 trains are 40 years old this year. Older than many of our cars! Modified a few times too nasty noisy old leaky Paxman Valenta engines long gone in favour of modern MTU's. Impressive stats too at 1770 bhp at the wheels (per power car) I use them all the time and still think they cut it. OMG I am a trainspotter.......... 1
Danish Posted January 15, 2016 Report Posted January 15, 2016 nasty noisy old leaky Paxman Valenta engines long gone in favour of modern MTU's. You can't beat the sound of a class 43 winding up the engines though, MTUs will never beat that.
Admin Vista Posted January 15, 2016 Author Admin Report Posted January 15, 2016 Class 43's have MTU engines now. At least most of them do. I used to maintain Paxman Valenta Generator sets in the RN. Horrid things leaked black carbon heavy oil almost as fast as you added it!
Admin Vista Posted January 15, 2016 Author Admin Report Posted January 15, 2016 Pop Yes / No answer quiz Which OSF member designed and fitted a modification to the Inter City 125 Passenger carriages, and for a bonus point, what was the modification?
