Admin Mk2Jo Posted March 19, 2016 Admin Report Posted March 19, 2016 I am very sad to report the passing of Mr Ron Harris, engine builder and head of the Harris family. Many of you will recognise his name as a very well known engine builder from South London. He's appeared in countless issues of Classic Ford Magazine and was a regular racer at Santa Pod and The Brighton Speed Trials as well as attending lots of local shows with his lovely wife Pam in his infamous MK1 Escorts "ELE J". Our condolences go out to all of the Harris family. This is certainly the closing of a very big chapter in the Classic Ford scene. RIP RON HARRIS. 1

SmokeEm Posted March 19, 2016 Report Posted March 19, 2016 RIP Ron. A true legend if ever there was one. Our thought's are with Pam and the rest of the Harris family. X
escortmad79 Posted March 19, 2016 Report Posted March 19, 2016 The old Ford scene has lost a major contributor. Ron (& now Jeff & James) could get mental power from a Pinto that other engine builders could only dream of! Ron was a much respected man & seeing the amount of tributes on Retards Club from folk all around the world just shows how highly regarded & respected he was. The word legend is often overused but for Ron it is fitting & well deserved. R.I.P to the man, the legend, Ron Harris aka the Conrod Father 2
Girl Racer Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 Its such sad news, I have known Ron for many years, my mum used to work with Pam, so we go way back. I really feel for all the family. Rich and I had our engines built by Ron before he gave up doing them, so feel really honoured to have Ron Harris engine, when I hear the 45's barking I will think of him x 2
