colr6 Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 If your going through the fuse box just make sure when it has power and when it doesn't
jxke Posted April 25, 2016 Author Report Posted April 25, 2016 Sorry stupid question but where/what would the ignition feed be?
colr6 Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 Go into ign switch wiring under dash with test light find switched live
colr6 Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 As a temp measure to get it started put the red wire to batt pos to get a feed to see if it starts.
jxke Posted April 26, 2016 Author Report Posted April 26, 2016 None of it reaches again, could I just use the old 1100 distributor and coil on the 1600 for the time being and then sort the electronic one later? Or are they different
colr6 Posted April 26, 2016 Report Posted April 26, 2016 If the engine came with it, should be timed up (hopefully ) ready to go. Saves you having to do it. Surly the wire can't be that far away. The wire from dist to amp should be long enough. So should only be wire from amp to coil and red feed wire that's short?
jxke Posted April 26, 2016 Author Report Posted April 26, 2016 Yeah just moved some stuff around it reaches now, will give it a go Edit: Nope still nothing :/
colr6 Posted April 26, 2016 Report Posted April 26, 2016 Just off out if you get stuck pm me your tel number and see if I can help. Col
jxke Posted April 26, 2016 Author Report Posted April 26, 2016 Cheers for the help, I'm going to look at it again now maybe see if I can find anything wrong somewhere on it I've just changed to my old coil which worked before I took it off but still got no spark
puddy Posted April 26, 2016 Report Posted April 26, 2016 Why don't you get someone that knows what a switched live feed is to look at it for you . Might be a bit less painful in the long run . Good luck ,puddy 1
jxke Posted April 26, 2016 Author Report Posted April 26, 2016 Ok so it may be that the little wire coming off the loom to the positive side of the coil remains there with the new setup (old one pictured), and then the red wire for the electronic ignition also to the positive side apparently. That was how I first had it setup but not with the extra one from the loom It'll give me something else to try tomorrow
colr6 Posted April 26, 2016 Report Posted April 26, 2016 Pos side of coil may not give you 12v if it's got resistor in cicuit that's why it needs a separate supply to get over this.
colr6 Posted April 26, 2016 Report Posted April 26, 2016 You have checked to see if you have a supply when ign on at pos side of coil? You could always replace the lumenition parts in the distributor for original points/ condenser and rotor arm.
jxke Posted April 26, 2016 Author Report Posted April 26, 2016 Ah yeah I see, thanks for explaining I haven't checked tbh so I'll do that as well tomorrow
jxke Posted April 27, 2016 Author Report Posted April 27, 2016 Still nothing after putting the wiire to the pos side, but as you said if it's got resistor in the circuit it needs a separate supply, as it wont work with less than 12v
