Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted June 27, 2016 Moderator Report Posted June 27, 2016 Nice cars I bet they keep you busy. Mk1 twin cam.i bet that sounds great. Very jealous lol. They don't make cars like that any more. Both my brothers cars were crashed into believe or not he was so unlucky. Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk I think more broke than busy! To be fair I havent done much with the Twincam at all recently. Its more a storage vessel for parts for the other one! While I have both I find Mk1s more beautiful but the Mk2 2lt Pinto Escort is wonderfully practical and great to tour in. So a Mk1 RS2000 could only be considered the best of both worlds and why I like them so much even though I dont own one. They were never sold here in Australia although have seen a couple in my day.
hensont151 Posted June 28, 2016 Author Report Posted June 28, 2016 I see.. Is it difficult getting parts then in Australia
Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted June 28, 2016 Moderator Report Posted June 28, 2016 I see.. Is it difficult getting parts then in Australia I think the twin cam was the early part of the mk1 story then the Mexico came out followed by the Rs version I think. To be honest I didn't know that there was a Mk1escort RS2000 version back when I had my Mk1escort 2lt until I found my old one online lol. Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk Yes parts are very hard to get these days. The whole secondhand wrecker market is gone as a result of companies and individuals in the UK buying all the cars en mass and shipping them by the container load to the UK. The wreckers dont any cars as a result and dries up part supplies here. The annoying thing is that often the parts that are in short supply were those unique to Australian cars. As mentioned in other threads I am having trouble getting a good set of struts. Once they get all shipped off to the UK people just throw the struts away because they arent of use to anyone there as their not of the same type on any UK models and not sure what inserts can be used with them. The Mk2 rear filling tanks are another one. They are impossible to get in good condition here but simply tossed away by many once the cars get to UK shores who install a side tank.

You would have thought that ford would make the parts universal or something. What about reproduction parts for Australian escorts is there a market for them. I see that the escort is available all round the world

You would have thought that ford would make the parts universal or something. What about reproduction parts for Australian escorts is there a market for them. I see that the escort is available all round the world in different countries so isn't one say sent to grease or Spain the same type or is that a stupid idea of mine lol. Can you send us a picture of ya cars Rally pack 2000. Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk At the time it had to do with tax concessions for local manufacturing if some of he components were made here. Given that most of the parts from European Escorts fit there isnt much money in reproducing the unique Australian parts. Some changes were just out of necessity like the long range rear filling tank under the boot. The standard side tank is just ridiculously small for a country our size. Also we like sports models to come with 4 doors as well as 2. A bit of extra strengthening and side impact protections too. Reproduction struts and tanks would be good though.

I wish you luck with your parts difficulties. Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk
