mk2 ben Posted September 2, 2016 Report Posted September 2, 2016 Hi all thinking of putting a v6 mondeo engine in my mk2 cortina has anyone else done this any info and advice greatly appreciated want to put type9 box on it if poss thanks
puddy Posted September 2, 2016 Report Posted September 2, 2016 Seems a lot of work when the 24v cosworth engine has been done before . Those Mondeo v6 engines are liable for bottom end problems as well . puddy
buzzard Posted September 3, 2016 Report Posted September 3, 2016 I've seen a st200 engine in a Capri . Looked nice but as said there about the same bhp as a cosworth v6 . The st 24 or st 200 would be a lot of work . Gearbox , engine mounts , gear box mounts , loom ,management , rad , clocks . All problems to over come . Cosworth is basic 2.3 conversion . Though it would be very different sight under the bonnet .
JP. Posted September 3, 2016 Report Posted September 3, 2016 Get the Jaguar 3.0 V6 instead. Same engine but rear wheel drive situated so a much easier swap. 1
mk2 ben Posted September 3, 2016 Author Report Posted September 3, 2016 Thought of poppin in it as my mate is gonna donate the whole car but I do like the jag 3.0 idea
colr6 Posted September 3, 2016 Report Posted September 3, 2016 Thought of poppin in it as my mate is gonna donate the whole car but I do like the jag 3.0 idea Don't they do one with a super charger on as std ?
colr6 Posted September 4, 2016 Report Posted September 4, 2016 Now that would be worth considering, not seen that done ?
mk1del Posted September 4, 2016 Report Posted September 4, 2016 V6 mondeo has problem with cranks, can't get the parts to repair them, nobody does over size shells, and the clutch is only available from ford,
puddy Posted September 5, 2016 Report Posted September 5, 2016 V6 mondeo has problem with cranks, can't get the parts to repair them, nobody does over size shells, and the clutch is only available from ford, Pretty much what I said ,lol . I was a ford senior tech btw puddy 1
lee_capri Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 rover v8 bub dont bother with any thing else unless it is cossy or v6 2.9 efi out of granny twin platinum chamber and have a bit more poke then the cossy version if you ask me
lee_capri Posted September 28, 2016 Report Posted September 28, 2016 have you thought about a bmw 318 engine and box donner car would cost you about £150 and they are good for 130mph and not bad on juice either you can get them remapped i think it is to 150bhp with out spending any thing
Danish Posted September 29, 2016 Report Posted September 29, 2016 rover v8 bub dont bother with any thing else unless it is cossy I helped fit a P38 4.6 RV8 earlier this year, definitely a good option.
mk2 ben Posted September 29, 2016 Author Report Posted September 29, 2016 Wanna try and keep it ford powered if poss
lee_capri Posted September 29, 2016 Report Posted September 29, 2016 they are 220 bhp staneard mate and probley about 450 lbs of torque and you can get them for about £300 with out the injection system
buzzard Posted October 1, 2016 Report Posted October 1, 2016 St200 was 202 bhp and 160 fbl so possible less than a cosworth v6 . To be honest you can get that out of a pinto zetec or dohc 2.3 .
