guido Posted June 9, 2017 Report Posted June 9, 2017 I have never seen a flat front rs2000 in western europe, something new to me
Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted June 9, 2017 Moderator Report Posted June 9, 2017 Nice , just like our Europe Granada mk2 , that looks alot as your Falcons [tru-blu] serie but no the same. And the fueltank is also bigger ?........... becourse your country is so as a hole continent ? Yes the XD Falcons did have a Mk2 Granada look about them. In 1977 when 2lt Engined Escorts were introduced (prior there were just 1300 and 1600 Kent Escorts) they were equipped with a longer range 54 litre fuel tank. The larger engine would mean it would no longer take you several tankfuls just to get out of the state! So Ford Australia fabricated their own drop tank strapped to the boot floor and the filler hidden behind the rear number plated that is a spring loaded fold down arrangement. Much better arrangement than the European version. Larger capacity and range. Lower centre of gravity and centred for handling benefits. Because it shields the boot floor from water splash it doesnt rust like the earlier models. With the side tank gone the boot space becomes notably larger with most reviews remarking how it had the boot size of most medium cars. With the tank filler in the middle of the rear you it also doesnt matter which side of the pump you go too. The side filler hole is simply blacked off with a purpose designed metal plug. No long neck fillers and tanks behind seats like the South African Arrangement. Its such a good design and arrangement im surprised Ford Australia thought of it given their ill conceived stripe ideas and horrible choice of mirrors and alloy wheels. But there are a few features of the Australian cars that are better than their European counterparts whereas there are some better features that are visa versa. Fortunately you can pretty much bolt on most of the good European stuff onto Australian models but you cant the other way around. 1
Fozzy48 Posted June 9, 2017 Report Posted June 9, 2017 I'm confused, is my car a RS 2000? it should be because it appears in the documentatión too. But all mk2 with that mouth I have seen, were 1.6 México... Welcome to the site mate.I have just bought a 1976 flat front RS2000, one of the first I'm lead to believe. https://www.flickr.com/gp/124581931@N06/Q1U161 Fozzy
