Sympathetic MOT station...

I know that we have a few members here from the Essex area, was just going to ask if anyone uses a good MOT station that they would recommend, one that understands and enjoys the more classic vehicle and won't jump it through the same hoops as say a 5 year old car.....

 

I don't mind travelling a bit of a distance to use a good station.

Safety first

I wouldnt want any.mot tester overlooking issues because its an old car.

Infact they should be more stringent as the older cars have less safety features

No i want it safe and sound first and foremost, when I say sympathetic, a garage that understands that the car is 40 years old and to test it as such.

They guy who failed my estate kept hitting it until it made holes in the sills. I wasn't happy. I knew it was bad but he went to town on it. Would never take my Mex there.

In theory that is true but I have had testers fail my car on original Ford designed parts claiming they were faulty because of the way they were designed. Accurate testing is one thing but a vindictive know it all that thinks he is an expert can be incredibly counter-productive.

Safety is all im on about not over testing

Adams motors at Burnt mill, Harlow never had a problem with them and they appreciate a classic

Cheers gents, that was all I was after, some recommendations of places people already use and are happy with.

Thanks classicwhitey and aardvark101 - I will keep both of those names - I will try Rochford first i think as my girls love a bit of Rollacity, so i already know where it is and they can skate while I wait...Jobs a good'un....hopefully.
