Are the screens themselves different or just the rubbers?

My understanding is the windscreens are slightly different sizes but this is taken up by different seals.

Interesting. I never knew that and I've owned 2 mk1 and 2 mk3 capris. When did the screen size change?

I believe around 82/83 Ford changed windscreen suppliers from triplex to bovex

There's only a few mm in it, but enough to cause headaches

Thanks all for the info on Evans, most appreciated. I'm told that the  larger rubber one measures 52cm while the smaller rubber pre 83 is 53cm.

But they both fit into the same aperture don't they? I mean the mk3 shell itself didn't change did it?

I wouldn't have thought the shell size changed just the rubber and glass size

indeed, shell was the same size. i broke my original screen but didnt know to measure it at the time. i sourced a new screen and rubber but it leaked like mad. i ended up getting an original seal from capri gear. was a really tight fit getting it in but doesnt leak now

Thanks for the Ricky Evans info. I've ordered a standard one at £110+vat which is cheaper than some used ones on ebay.
