Hi All,

Currently building a caterham 7 syle car using ford sierra hubs, escort rack and unknown ford steering column. I am on here to use some of your expertise and see if someone can identify what ford the steering column has come from, and where can I get plugs to fit column switches, and find out how straight forward it would be to fit aftermarket steering wheel? Please see photos below, thanks in advance, cheers Craig

Right, been going through the interweb and found photos of mk4 & mk5 cortinas with that steering wheel. Looking at the photos of fords around that era it looks like they mostly used similiar connectors for the switched, anyone got any plugs with a bit of wire on them (that I can solder onto).

Looks like a cortina wheel to me too. The switches were pretty common in design across the range at the time, they look the same as mk2 Escort ones.

Welcome to the forum.

looks like mk4 to me but why not use a complete sierra unit?

managed to pick this up for peanuts (along with column to rack linkages), already mounted in the chassis.

Anybody got some plugs that will fit the indicator/lighting stalks? Or know where I could get them?

probably! but have you got the switch/column shrouds?

No, was thinking of knocking up a soft gaiter style shroud but if plastic shrouds are available then I'm interested.....tell me more

will look tomorrow it will need covers of some sort for the iva test, most people use sierra as the bits are more available

Thank you, that would be much appreciated

The problem with wanting the plugs off the loom is that most looms are a saleable part complete. It may be easier, and likely cheaper, to buy some aftermarket connectors.
