Basically i;ve converted my Mk3 Capri wings to be bolt on and i;m not sure on the legalities, anyone here have any ideas? Is it a case of shove it in for MOT and hope Mr Tester doesnt notice? The new setups definately stronger than before what with the wing rails being more substancial so i can bolt into em...

The stength at the front of any car comes from it's inner wings and chassis rails. All major suspention and load bearing components are located to these parts.

 

Wings are merley cosmetics and to keep the lines of the car. That is why you shoundn't have tyres/wheels poking out of the wings!!! :wink:

It helps support the inner wing which supports the struts

 

it doesnt really though does it dan :lol:

 

if they were so strong there wouldnt be any spaced framed front ends in the world

if you have a look at how many cars out there have GRP'ed and newspaperd up at the wing rails , you'll see that a few bolts through strong metal is probably better.

 

I tested a rot box... jacking it up after measuring across the strut tops and it measured up +5mm when the wheels where off the ground.

 

On a car with bolted wings 2mm and with the strut brace 0mm
