The one you have pictured ^^^ is the one i have on my engine at the moment and its making my alternator sit about 1/8 of an inch further back than it should and causing the belt to run out of alignment. Is there any chance you could compare one of your old ones to the new one you have to see if there are any differences? If they are different then im happy to buy one of your old original Ford ones from you. If they are the same, i have a problem.... Rich
caprimk1v4 Posted April 3, 2019 Report Posted April 3, 2019 Hi Rich, I have checked them, and all 5 are the same size/shape, 3 of my cars run crossflows, and all 3 have the same bracket, and the belts are not out of align in any way, so not sure what is going on with yours, it could be the pully on the water pump if that has been changed at some time. Regards.
Ray Posted April 3, 2019 Report Posted April 3, 2019 you either have the wrong alternator, or the wrong pulley on the correct alternator, simple as that, I have nicks car at the moment, he fitted a wosp alternator, and its sitting 2mm too far fwd tearing at the belt, its getting a Lucas ACR back on it with the correct pulley, correct pulleys are hard to find, as the ACR had so many fit types, but if you buy the alternator from AAP Oldham you will get the alternator with the correct pulley the bracket above is the correct one unless you have a mex 1
Rich T Posted April 4, 2019 Author Report Posted April 4, 2019 MMmmm I replaced the original bracket end of last year when i replaced the alternator . The original bracket had broken and been badly repaired so got a new one (as pictured above) and used that. Thing is, i only used the car once or twice after fitting it before the car came off the road before winter. Thinking an OG bracket would fix the problem. Old alternator and pulley have been thrown away . My manager whos into old Fords is going to have a look tonight through his bits n bobs to see if he has one. Sorry V4, looks like i dont need a bracket after all. Sorry for wasting your time. Rich
caprimk1v4 Posted April 4, 2019 Report Posted April 4, 2019 Hi, You did not waste my time, just glad between us all we might have got it sorted, I have been throwing out my old alternators as well, better check what I have left !!?? Good luck getting it sorted. 1
