Bronze Mk1 Escort 1300L UFX365L, Poole, Dorset 12/04/22

Bronze 2 door mk1 Escort 1300L registration number UFX365L was stolen from the driveway of a house in Wallisdown, Poole, Dorset in the early hours of Tuesday 12th April 2022.

The Escort is completely standard & is immaculate. It is bronze with chrome trim & white pinstripes down the sides. The car has an aerial fitted in the drivers side front wing.

The car has been owned by its rightful owner since 1987 & used the car daily.

He has had restoration work done to it & is understandably very upset as it was his pride & joy.

Very unfortunate - but why do people make it so easy to nick what was the most nickable car in Britain? Really, these days putting a classic on the drive overnight is equal to parking on the street with doors open and engine running in the 70's!

The owner is now offering a £2500 reward for any information leading to the recovery of the car

It's such a shame about this one, let's hope that the money they are offering does the trick as it could still be stored somewhere.  With regard to driveway parking not everyone has a garage and as mentioned above the owner has had this since 1987 when the car wasn't worth a lot so they possibly just got used to leaving it outside and as Dorset is not a crime ridden area thought it was safe.  I'm not on social media but hope people share this update about the reward money to keep the car fresh in people's minds in case it's spotted.

I appreciate that but some people DO know their worth and still take chances. For example, I was out walking round the neighborhood on Sunday and came across a REALLY nice mk1 Sport parked on the drive in front of the garage. The garage had decent door/ground lock and bracket fitted and the drive had a collapsible post - that was down with car parked over it! There was no direct window overlooking the drive and getting into a mk1 is child's play, so that could have been opened and rolled away with no noise - in the middle of the day! All the security in the world is only as good as when its used!
