Not sure about the colour scheme.

I bet there arent many left.

Oh yellow Sundowners are the best colour! That one seems as good a condition as you will ever see. Love it! Money seems reasonable for one too.

What would that be in IK pounds then?

Its bout 22k in Pounds Sterling. Remember this is the RS2000 of vans with a Mexico front. If im correct nowhere else did Ford put Pinto engines in an Escort van. It was the 70s so yes the colour schemes are a bit bright and out there but as the creators of Mk1 Rs2000 striping I think you guys can handle it lol

Fair point on the colour.

I was the owner of a Mk1 RS2000 Orange with red stripe back in the day. To be fair even then I really wasnt sure about red on orange though.

Times sure have changed.

I couldn't originally come to terms with the thick Rally Pack striping and the bold "Escort" at the end of them and they were just black and RP2000 never had stripes for 20 years! But time and nostalgia made me embrace them and I restored them only a few years back. My own photos of them posted on this very forum are now used illegally on Ebay to sell replica stripes ever since!

And the name 'Sun Downer'.

That could only really work over there.

I suppose we could have had a 'Pi$$ing Downer'. 😁

It was really aimed at the surfer crowd, sun setting on the ocean beaches that sort of thing.

And whats not to like.

The one in the add has square headlamps. Was that a later addition?

Yes Mk2 Escorts switched to square headlights from 1979 to 1980.

That car was built by a guy here in SA, on the classic ford forums as marty mexico. He does great work and is a super knowledgeable.

He sold it off a while ago and they new owners slapped some stickers and a covid price tag on it.
