Radders226 Posted September 17, 2023 Report Posted September 17, 2023 I have a Mk1 Cortina with a Mk2 Cortina 1600GT xflow fitted. In my recent attempted tuning sessions I have discovered it has a 28/36 DCB5 Weber carb fitted. Has anyone heard of a DCB5 carb before? It seems to be quite scarce and doesn't appear in may google results. My car is running very lean so obviously I'm looking to cure this, so I'm looking to find out more about the carb.
Miniliteman Posted September 17, 2023 Report Posted September 17, 2023 Never heard of a DCB. Take another look it will probably be a 28/36 DCD .
katana Posted September 17, 2023 Report Posted September 17, 2023 I would have thought definitive info could be sought from Webcon UK Ltd - info from horses mouth so to speak, and they could advise on tuning and supply correct parts!

Radders226 Posted October 1, 2023 Author Report Posted October 1, 2023 As an update...... According to Webcon the 28/36 DCD is not being made any more, so the 32/36 DGV is the next available upgrade So, I replaced my existing 28/36 DCB5 carb (Simca 1500 carb apparently!) with a brand new 32/36 DGV from Retro Ford. (It pays to shop around, I got the carb and a ram air filter from Retro Ford for the same price as just a carb on its own from Webcon) The difference is amazing. the car runs better and smoother. It also sounds meatier and performs very well. Needless to say, I'm very pleased with the results. 🙂 WhatsApp Video 2023-09-30 at 14.05.43.mp4 1
