"Hi, I have been trying to locate some push rods for an early 1100 kent crossflow. I haven't had any luck so far and thought it was worth asking the question on your forum. The engine is fitted into a small river cruiser boat which belongs to a friend of a friend who knows nothing about engines. He was told by the previous owner that it was a Ford Anglia engine. The engine would not start after last winters lay up. I agreed to have a look at it, assuming it would simply be a fuel or ignition problem. However, two valves had seized in the closed position and the push rods are bent. It would be helpful if someone could confirm if the 1100 and 1300 rods are the same, there seems to be more chance of finding 1300 rods."

anglia58 Posted November 27, 2024 Report Posted November 27, 2024 hi vista, i saw that post, i couldn't find it anymore, the pusrods from the 1100 are the same as the 1300, the valves are smaller than the 1300, the head complete are interchangeable, the crankshaft and rods are different, 1100 pistons have a smaller combustion chamber, the sice are the same and are interchangeable, the engine from both are the same, i could sent pusrods for postage money from holland i he's got no hurry, just pm me. i just saw i am to slow with my typing, miniliteman bead me, cheers 1

51witco Posted November 28, 2024 Report Posted November 28, 2024 Brilliant, thanks for your help Miniliteman. I'm wondering if I can free up the the two seized valves without taking the head off. The fuel had water in it which had caused the carburettor to completely clog up. The seized valves are 2 and 3 which are side by side inlets. I'm assuming water has ended up around the valve seats before the boat was laid up for the winter and corrosion has caused them to seize. I doubt the valve stems are seized. I could take the inlet manifold off and squirt something around the valves. Can I gently tap the valves at the top of the stem? Any thoughts would be appreciated
