Hi,

I'm a new member and was wondering what engines you all have in your Capris and Escorts.

I have a MK2 1.6 Capri project, I bought a few months ago. I'm looking for advice on 4 pot Ford engines to give me driveable, not crazy bhp.

Thanks Neil.

2 liter ohc must still be around for cheap. But mileage and condition of engine is another story. That counts for all used old  engines, even crossflow.

1600 cc is getting rare in my country Netherlands. Even the english rearaxle. But lucky me i know someone who has this axle for sale. I asked for price.

Waiting for an answer.

Hi Neil

Another West Sussex member! whereabouts are you?

I'm not a Capri expert, but would I be right in thinking that the 1.6 Capri is a Pinto not a Crossflow?

The cars are not mega heavy, so if the 1600 you have is working fine, could it be an option to give that a little tap with the modifying stick? Bigger carb and a warm cam etc?

I guess it also comes down to what you want to use it for and budget. But it is a domino effect, change/increase power in engine, and then do you need to uprate the gearbox, diff, brakes etc...

Hi Bailey,

I'm near Gatwick.

I'm considering a 2.0 Duratec for a modern upgrade, I already have Yamaha R1 carbs and a standalone ECU, looking for economy and reasonable power.

Yeah that'd work wouldn't it, or if budget conscious, would a 2.0 zetec be cheaper?

And same here, only 5 mins from Gatwick! Will you be going to any local meets at all? might bump into you.
