hi,

i am undecided in which engine to eventually put in my 100e. it will either be a 1600 crossflow or 2L pinto. my next door neighbor has a mk3 capri in the garage that has only done 45,000 miles from new and he says i can have the car, its a 2.0l s and i think is a 205 block (maybe wrong). But i dont know.... all i know is i want a fair bit of power and just the ease of going sideways

thanks alot

Well i've gone for pinto because as standard they've got more power and more importantly more grunt than a standard xflow

doubt it is a 205 block m8 as i thought they were only put in injection sierra's but im no expert on the old pinto!

Have the neighbours car and sell it on and buy yourself a 1600 x-flow, get boss racing engines to build it, tell him exactly what you want from it and he'l build it to your spec!

The weight distribution will be much better with a cross flow and should be easier to fit due to the option of front bowl sump from a tina! And limitates the cutting of the bulkhead, some mod's may be necessary!

Look at twinks 100e thats a 1300 and has been done very nicely and is still on the good ole steering box! Im sure his taken a few pics b4 to answer a very similar post!

A pinto is heavier than a pinto and good power can be achieved from both!

Then you get involved in gearbox options! And if standard, axle options too!

Hope this helps, im no guru but i do know a little! :)

Sorry m8 a pinto really is quite heavy for a 100e!

But each to their own, really good power can be acheived from the good old crossflow!

Just look at Posse old van, on 45's!

Depends if you really want to put the hard graft in and stick a pinto in. If you don't want to go cutting stuff up i'd stick with a xflow

but if your gonna go through all the effort of cutting etc.........

Then why not fit a zetec?????

To put a crossflow in your 100e you will still have to mod the bulkhead & tunnell, they dont just drop straight in as people would have you believe,Twinkles is a 107e which has a recessed bulkhead & different crossmember from the factory & you will still have to stretch the tunnell widthways anyway.

Crossflow is probably less work but your pinto is free & the capri will also have some useful bits if you decide to go for a rack conversion.........Depends on your budget/whether you intend to mod the engine further/what you are using the car for etc
