Johnson Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 I'm basicaly after some kind of tech article about mk2 escorts and specifically the 1300 Xflow engine used in them. I'm assuming it can be upgraded much the same as the old 1600 lumps.. bigger valves etc..etc.. any power figures and specs from current builds ?? cheers for the help
antz Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 i am using a 1300 xflow. when i had it tuned it had a k&n, weber 32 carb and 130 jets in it. it had 62bhp at 5000rpm. that wasnt maxing it out so i reckon it had a tiny bit mroe than that.
Dalek Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 No power figures, but i had a 1300 one yonks ago in a mk1 escort i had. It was a 711m block fitted with flat top pistons, agra flat head with offset valve guides, kent bcf3 cam, double valve springs, pair of 40's, balanced etc etc. Went like stink. Ate standard RS2000's at the lights, good fun and a stronger, more unbreakable engine IMO than the 16 x-flow.
Rick Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 more unbreakable engine IMO than the 16 x-flow. surely an inch extra stroke is the only difference :-s
Rick Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 more unbreakable engine IMO than the 16 x-flow. surely an inch extra stroke is the only difference :-s (in the engine)
105Nick Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Wish I'd done the head and stuck a cam in mine before I stuck it back, still its got the zorst and carb sorted so should be okay. Got another spare block, some gippos doing 'work' nicked me other and weighed it in for scrap, but given taxes might be worth building a screamer than a 1700
Ratters Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 I had 73 bhp in my old engine with a standard but +30 bottom end, big valve ported head, 32/36 DGV/K&N, 4 branch & 2" system.
tim Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 my old 1300 was over bored,fr32 cam,32/36 carb, dont know if it was lighten but used to rev 7/8k easly
sambo Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 The 1300GT x-flows made 72BHP apparently!!??

Fiesta Steve Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 The 1300GT x-flows made 72BHP apparently!!?? Thats almost as much as a 1600
jayson2.3pinto Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 my son run a mk2 escort last year at the pod it was a 1300 xflow put together for next to nothing and run 16.3 on road tyres and was loads of fun
