MkI Mexico Steels are Uber Cool... and Uber rare especially with the hub caps on... give better venting to the brakes than Lotus steels..

Had a set on my Anglia van that I got off Simon Woolley and now they are sitting in the shed waiting for the next project.

Give the same look as a lotus steel but much much rarer.

So if you want a set you gotta pay the money..

Perhaps a little ott.. but not outrageous.

Unfortunatley they aren't the same wheels. The Mk1 Mexico wheels are the ones I wanted for the Anglia but they are very scarce. They are 5.5J and were originally fitted with the big chrome centre cap like my Lotus rims.

Dean, you have the 5J steels which were fitted to your car and Mk4/5 Cortinas. These have the little black center cap and dont have the 3 bumps around the raised section for the big chrome cap.

Mk2 Mexico steels have a 5.5j rim, but different centers which look like spokes with square holes around the edge. These squares are normally painted black to give the impression that the raised silver bits are spokes.

I will try to get some pics up

There are two types of mk1 mex steels, the early type (lotus steels with slots) and the later type like your's Johnnyh. The later type were also fitted to the mk1 RS2000 and then on the mk2's. HTH :D

I've got the latter type though the tyres are huge so they rub, can't wait to get the 4-spokes on it though. What's the best tyres for the late MK1 RS steels? I was going to relegate them to winter use to protect my polished alloys. They suit it with the sleeper theme going on though :D

The early and late type steels are the same size/offset so you've got a wide tyre choice, suppose it depends on what profile you fancy? 70's for originality, 40's for the Sarf London look. 8)
