well the file it attacks is part of windows file which is needs to work .........you can move it but if you dont know how to do it you can screw your pc up so the pc wont work if you delete the file or wrong file!!!!!!!!......if you go to search and put in svchost, exe it will tell you the location of the file ...and it will tell you its in windows files...which you can not delete when the pc is running has its in use.......also you would have to run in safe mode and manually delete it but has i said it can screw your windows up....also you have to move it from the registry file which you have to go to run and type in regedit and then search for svchost, exe and delete....but if you dont know what you are doing i would leave it alone and install a decent firewall and a decent virus checker......I CAN NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE IF YOUR PC FECKS UP

Try some of the free ones, avast is already mentioned, Trend offer a free online scanning tool, I think panda & Norman do too

Here's a few online scanners:

Trends:

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Panda:

http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/ActiveScan.htm

F-Secure

http://support.f-secure.com/enu/home/ols.shtml

also stick on the Zonealarm personal firewall, I think it's still free, if not PM me & I'll upload it somewhere.

And lob on an anti-spyware product such as spybot or Microsoft windows defender (both free)

The only downside is your PC will slow down a bit.

Do a windows update too if you're an XP or 2000 user.

The commercial products from Symantec, McAfee, Trend, Kaspersky etc are ok but they do cost a few quid, the other thing to note is these people create virus removal tools which anybody can download and run - make use of them!

I could type reams of do's, dont's & what to use but this is a car forum after all!

PM me if you need any links or advice (within reason), I work in IT security (fatal admission there) so deal with these products frequently on a large scale
