Daggle Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 The secret is out as to what will be powering RF Morley's Anglia, had a look on another forum and it is................... A Hayabusa Bike Engine!!!
nitrousnutter Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 feck a diddly that things gonna fly, have you seen the vid that going round of the yellow and red mk2 powered by a bike engine, its a driftking lol
Mk 1 Mark Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 WHY why not all that Talk.....or is that Torque
105Nick Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 We feature shed loads of tuned Hayabusas in SF, and they are well tunable, and take to turbos like HP sauce to a bacon sarnie. most commonly people fit turbos to road bikes and put out around 300bhp, but Big CC's project pisstake is well known as a streetable drag bike and puts out over 540bhp, in a bike, that weighs next to nothing, http://www.bigccracing.com/shop/categor ... ategory=50 so when you ook at it that way it makes perfect sense, it weighs less than any car engine would, will rev happily past 10k, tuning wise the sky's the limit and is very strong and durable, as well as being smaller than the original pre-crossflow! For a small, light car such as the 100E or 105E and the sake of doing something different its ideal In that respect, its far better than dropping in zetecs, cossies and clattery old vaux units Oh, and by the way has anyone seen this, i came accross it at a show and it looks incredible. its smaller physically than a pinto, maybe even a crossflow - it really is that small - 2.6 litres too, and 300bhp, just imagine the possibilities with a twin turbo set up. CNC machining has a lot of dreadful creations to answer for, but this is marvellous. Reminds me of the old 3-litre F1 cars. http://thekneeslider.com/archives/2005/ ... -v8-engine I'd like that in a cologne replica Mk1 capri!

And Please Dont Start Gaz off !!!!!

GT_Jim Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 wouldnt mind one ina 100e perhaps when the tinas done....

Me bros cobra though, that's mental. Guessing around 500bhp plus from a big block, it was twisting the spaceframe and lifting wheels when we first fired it up
105Speed Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 Blimey... and I think 4500rpm at 80 mph in 5th is tedious.. I think 13000 rpm will soon get on ones wick.... unless you have loads and loads of sound proofing. Track weapon... YES Shows ? Go on a trailer

105Nick Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 Yeah, its a bit scary, though he's done it very subtle and tried to keep it as close the originals as possible intead of chromed up, its got an alloy plate on the firewall and the footwells/inner wings are black fibreglass as per the originals. Shame I've not got a pic of the motor its a beast, 460 Ford from a Llincoln Continel also used in Torinos and Tbirds, so it started as 7.6 bored to round 8 litre, 4-speed top loader manual (a mans gearbox lol), jag back axle, spax all round, full tube RAM chassis, one-off exhausts closer to original spec with removable SVA mufflers (been removed ), 16" Image GTD 3-piece split rims, Edelbrock intake, Holley 350 four barrel, Ford Motorsport rocker covers etc. Its manic, 60 feels like doing 30 in another car, open up and you just get pushed back, its like nothing else, scary thing is it doesnt peak, it just keeps going - we had to slow down cos we got caught behind a sportsbike! I keep saying it should be painted original colours but he's got his mind set on Focus St Orange with black pipes and roll hoop. Its taken 10 years to build, and has been on the road for a year now. The engine's around 1976, and is age related plate despite being new (it has enough Jag suspension components to allow you to do this .
MK II Mark Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 My mate had a westfield with a hiyabusa engine in it, it was the quickest thing I have been in bar none. I say do it Ben, it should go and sound the bo***x when its done.

Arched Escy Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 Cool, but I thought he already told us that?
Guest MK1gaz Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 Is he turbo charging the bike engine then ? When left N.A. and fitted to a heavy car ( By that i mean a bike without an engine weighs fooooooook all but a car without an engine is still heavy ) it will struggle a bit unless you're rinsing the arse of it around a circuit at 10,000+ rpm . The tiny bike screamer won't have much torque to shift a heavy object and compared to a bikes minute mass even an anglia will be a struggle for it . It's a great project for a mega lightweight track car though , it will have to be mega lightweight as one of those megabusa caterham 7 things is about 400 kilos if i remember !!!!!!!! . Very interesting choice mr Morley , it will be a crowd pleaser for sure and a landmark oldskool Ford project . I've got a G.P.S. data speed test of a hyabusa powered lightweight mini at brunters somewhere in my archives , it wasn't all that fast though on the acceration tests but went like foooook around the handling course
GT_Jim Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 it depends on how the turbo is set up if its a smaller unit it could give better low end but it would run out as he keeps it going its touchy situation turbocharging as its difficult to find a happy medium as for torque the gearbox and diff are there to reduce speed and increase torque so making it go wont be so bad but an anglia standard weighs 700kg with some modifications he could get that really low. im quite interested in this project looks like a right head scratcher
Jay_harrier Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 To make it useable it has be turbo or supercharged prefferably the latter I can speak from experience, I ran a Blackbird powered kitcar (& a SmartCar - don't ask!) that weighed a lot less than the angrybox, you had to dial in 3500 rpm+ to pull away cleanly & with those sort of revs it tended to take off too quickly in traffic or spin up the wheels. The other option is to gear it right down. For track days, weekends or competition then they work well but clutches don't last even with the most expensive carbon composite plates. To make it work the car needs to be under 600kg or forced induction, having been there myself I couldn't reccommend it on a road car. If I wanted to be different I would have put a S2000 lump in, 240brake out of the crate.... or a Mazda Rotary
