had some dealings years back with the one from grays, if you let him do the machine work, and you know enough about that stuff, and put your engine back together yourself, it's possible, but he dosn't keep his appointment, keeps changing things, says a lot don't worry, then you know you probaly get f......, in the end ervery thing went well for me. just can't recommend him, i think try the ones from ray. cheers marcel

if i read and understand this right, i am also not clever, like your brakes, you bought a new car, a mk2 escort, i think, if your pressure keeps falling away, it can be a few things, first, your seals in your mastercylinder are gone, just change them, easy fix, your rear cylinders leak, easy to check, if so change them for new ones complete, onlt seals is a waist of time and money, also check your rubber 3 breakhosses if they blow up when someone els breaks. if your rear shoes aren't ajusted good, your pedal shouls be hard, and you can pump it up, it should stay there, if not you got a leak, like above, if you have new pads on old disks, they have to bed in, but your pedal should stay hard. and for your NEW car, i looked it up, they didn't make those after 1980, so you got stitched up with an old car, sorry about that, not to worrie, i still will give you 50 pounds for it, cheers marcel

change sparkplug they do go bang, had that on my crossflow, the same with ignition leads, without touching them, it still could be a fuelingl problem, crap blokking things, the small venteuries lose, if you got a double webber carb, the colour looks fine, look at the gap, mabe a bit big if you got a quick shift, they do rattle, if you got a 4 speed, use the bush and stick of an rs, if they make noise the plastic is gone, but you will have a lot of play in it cheers marcel

the way you test that, they all will leak, your head will be fine, your oil problem will be number 3 piston, and maybe the other ones, they put a new piston in it, probably becaurse the other one burned out, the other ones could also be damaged, now for the solution, put your head with the old gasket back on the engine, just hand tight, then don't put the tumblers on, put air on the cylinder with a home made sparkplug with a tirevalve, or buy something the same, put breakcleaner on the back of the valves, put air onn it, if the valve has some bubles it's good, a lot of bubles or spitting, they just don't seal, you also will hear if your piston will leak, i use a tire meter, it will pump to 6,5 bar, if the pressure drops slow it's fine, if it drop fast and the valves don't spit, your piston rings are gone and maybe the piston is burned, by the way your pistons are 1300 ones, it's a nice cheap go faster trick, it will give 10,5 to 1 ratio, in stead of the 9to 1, the camshaft can make noise like there is someone hitting it with a small hamer on the inside, probably a gnome with a hamer, it could be a piston slapping around or a big end bearing on it's way out, advice, take the engine apart, pistons first sice up, use 1300 ones, new camshaft and followers, camshaft bearings if they look fine you don't need to replace them, bigend and crankshaft bearings if not damage replace, the head if it seals use it, if you don't drive 10000 miles a year, you don't need hardend exhauts seats, if you let a shop fix it, lap the valves with 600 grid paste, then they will seal, always check with air, i have head from differend shops, they are all crap, after lapping they are fine. look on evilbay for prices, it's not cheap to fix an engine, you can do the work yourself, use a book and your fine, or ring a shop, best to sit down for a price. cheap option, use a 1600 or 1800 sierra pinto, same horsepower, for 50 to 150 pounds, nobody wants those, if it's worn, throw it away and buy an other. cheers marcel

yes i know, it's only from the 5 of march that you can do that, and the F......g app only works on a F.......G smartphone, which i don't own, it won't work on my new laptop, or tablet, i just bought a F.......G phone, just for the app, it's easier to use a big wooden clog, stick my car in it, and start to row, it maybe illigal, but cheaper, i still will use my nokia from 2017, just calls and text. al cortina's from the mk2 upwards have crap handeling, doesn't matter witch engine is in it, they do ride good at a bangerrace, they do last a while, UNLESS you change the bushes for uprate ones, lowered and stiffer springs and ajustable shocks, a mate of mine has an estate cortina from 77 with a 2 litre 4 banger in it, witch has those things, and i have to say, i am still surprised that the car runs so good, and handels good, it's not a racecar, but a very good sportscar, with some work you could make a good car for not so much money, my 2 cents on the subject, where is my beer, cheers marcel

it's 9 on the pignion; and 33 on the crownwheel, it's not escort mk1/2 or cortina mk4/5, so you can trow it away, also becaurse the pinion teeth are sharp, and i think the sides have also a lot of wear, it's scrap, sorry it's not to piss you of, cheers marcel

hi vista, i saw that post, i couldn't find it anymore, the pusrods from the 1100 are the same as the 1300, the valves are smaller than the 1300, the head complete are interchangeable, the crankshaft and rods are different, 1100 pistons have a smaller combustion chamber, the sice are the same and are interchangeable, the engine from both are the same, i could sent pusrods for postage money from holland i he's got no hurry, just pm me. i just saw i am to slow with my typing, miniliteman bead me, cheers

hi i am still around, just being a lazy b....., and got sick for the last 4 weeks, can't recommend that, i will get the panels and camshaft timing wheel to rp 2000. so he will have the best panels in austratia, and just for the postage and like rp sayed old fords can buy you happines, i bought an escort mk2 4 door, that one started my divorce, the best buy i did for that, i just love that car. cheers marcel

hi, i got the connections to remove the litle block, did that, and used an other new mastercilinder, took the inside out and have put that inside an other new one that we used, the body has the right connections for the lines, and the result was, still no brakes, we where thinking, that the new mastercilinders are old stock, that the cups where to old, i was looking for something else, and i found my set to make brake pipes, i thought i will take an escort cilinder, clean that, and put new cups in that, and try that, witch i did, didn't work, i looked the car over, and i finally fixed it, it's got brakes, my mate can take it to the mot, hoping everything is right, i can clean 3 new cilinders and put them together and trow them back on the pile, cheers marcel

hi, we are still working in the estate, the rear brake needed to be replaced, we did that, it's a real pain, it's just a crap system, we change some springs in to bolts and springs, the originale stuff is total crap, we drilled a hole in de gears witch adjust the shoes, now we can adjust them with a screwdriver, everything new on the back, so time to pull the air out of the system, did that, we had crap brakes, the next day we unbolted the mastercilinder, and saw that it has leaked about 1/2 a liter of brake fluid in the booster, the last owner just top it up, and never asked himself where it went, (dumbo), so i had a look in my pile of parts, and i had one, it'has an m10 and m12 conection, put that on, pulled the air out, at the last wheel we lost half of oure pedale presior, si i thought it has broken a cup inside, i did had that at one time, we looked for an other one in my pile, and yes i got an other one, we used that, we had pressior, but not great, i dove a round with the car, stamped a few times on the brakes, pulled the handbrake, and yes after 6 times the pedale went to the floor, we didn't have any brakes left, i have taken the 2 master cilinder apart, and found notthing wrong with them, that's a lot of time and work spent, and we got nowhere, there is a block in the brake lines witch could have a switch in it, that would switch a light up, when there is a differents in the brake back to front, we are going to remove this, i just ordered some conections to do this, and then we will try the mastercilinders again. we also had a look witch diff is in the axle, it should be 4.1, if that was the case we would use a 3.78, then his car would drive the same with 320rpm less, but it has a 3.9 so it would only be 120rpm, that's to much work for nearly no gain, he's looking for a 3.45 diff, it's the small koln diff nobody likes, i don't no why. it's stronger than an english axle, you just can't buy a slippdiff for it, his rpm's will drop 450 with this one, or he will buy an 3.44 big atlas axle. i am not a fan of these cortina's, but this one has lowered springs, ajustable spax, nice seats, 2 litre, 5 speed, rare colour(not originale) lots of space, and it just drives realy nice, and my mate loves it, we will make more changes to improve the car, after getting brakes and an mot on it so you see you have to be nuts and stupid to want to drive these old fords, now we just need a doctor to confirm this. pictures, the second one, showes some welding on a strip to keep the shoes inplace, someone broke a piece of it, we repaired it, on the fifh picture it's got a block like we want to get out off the car. cheers marcel, my mate jan

hi, my laptop made this film, i don't know how, i am no genius i went to the show, i saw all the shows, except the 2022 show, this year the wife of a friend made a club to attend, i was realy early at the show, i had tickets,but i came through the back door, there was a carboot sale, and an open gate, so i was first there at 06.00 except the ones that camped at the side, i did see the pictures and vidio's from last year, i have to say, it was like i expected, it's not the show we know, it's not so big,there is space enough to make it big, but i don't think there will be more people, it's easy to see the cars and take pictures, that's nice, there where very litle spare parts to buy, it's is great that you can bring your dog with, last year they sayed it to late that it was allowed, i did have a very nice day, becaurse for me it's a big show, here in holland we don't have that, next year i will go, but will come a bit later, stay for a few hours and driver further to norwich where my sister lives, i can understand that you living in england have more choise to witch show you will attend, and distance will be a factor, for me every thing is far, but it's worth the trouble, see the show, some speedway, and visit my sister, and driver in england, witch is nicer than here in europe, cheers marcel classic ford show 23.mp4

i know, i have seen that a lot over here aswell, in this piece of my town they made a book of the history of my neighbourhood, and the girl that made the pictures and the book, made a piece of me will i was welding on my transit in the early evening, and stated that it used to be normale, and you could still see it here, a lot of people know me or my cars, so if you are nuts enough you will be a selebrity, don't need a ferrari, just an old ford will do, cheers marcel
