  1. The highest bid (mine) was £19k, the reserve was £27k. I couldn’t bid more as nobody else was bidding. I spoke with the auction house but the vendor had already removed the car and the auction house advised that the bid was so far from what he wanted it wasn’t worth putting anything forward unless I was prepared to go up to his reserve. In my view the reserve was too high.
  2. Morning all In the last coup,e of months I have seen 3 X Pack Capris go through different auctions, none sold as they didn’t reach their reserve; I was actually the highest bidder on one of them. I don’t suppose anybody on here was one of the sellers? If you do happen to be on here I would love to hear from you as I am still very interested in buying one.
  3. We are going to the local classic car show tomorrow, so today I thought I would get Tina out and check she was running ok. As the sun was shining I popped for a quick drive around. It is a while since I was out and I had forgotten how much fun an old car is.
  4. Hi all I fancy another OSF and something a little different. I found this, a Mk1 Cortina with a V6 fitted. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/295248452756 It looks well done and in good condition, does anybody happen to know the car or have a view? thanks
  5. Yes I agree, I am not so much of a purist to want to pay the premium for a “real” one. I am after a bit of fun on the very odd day that I get the car out.
  6. I recently moved to the Highlands so it isn’t so far away 😊
  7. I wonder what happens if the MoT exempt car fails? Can you drive it legally knowing it is deemed unroadworthy?
  8. Hi all, having owned my lovely Cortina 1600e for 11 years or so I am starting to fancy a change. This car popped up on car and classics and I really quite like the look of it. I am not minded to pay the money for a real one. https://www.carandclassic.com/car/C1445417 Does anybody happen to know the car or have a view? thanks
  9. Here is one of us out and about on a local rally, pre COVID of course, enjoying the car for what it is - a car.
  10. Some of the games I have been at - the whistle is definitely exciting!
  11. .... and quite an exciting end to the football it was too.
  12. Yep, FA cup this afternoon, Rochdale v Spurs
  13. Aha yes, me too. Pay attention rather than answer while glancing at it, drinking wine and watching the football.
  14. Now read it properly - 70! Assumed it was all add on the bottom line
  15. 17
  16. I quite like it and am warming to Ant. It seems he explains a bit more of what he is doing. I do wish that they wouldn't show so much of the car at the teaser at the start though.
  17. Take the silly graphics off that e-type and I like it too.

    Tight Fit

Random fact, the previous owner of our house was the blonde in Tight Fit
  20. As you do, I was browsing around various car sites considering if I fancy a change for next year when I came across this rally prepared Corsair and have to say I quite like it. https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C904236 Not sure if i could live with it as a road car, however, still looks a cool bit of kit.
  21. Lovely looking pair of Mk2s.
  22. I stumbled across a vintage event in Northern France in July which looks pretty cool, so thought I would share in case others were interested. Every 2 years, for 1 day in summer, the small town of Marquise (midway between Calais and Boulogne) bans all modern cars from the town and turns back the clock to the 1960s and only cars of that era are permitted in the town. Shops and local businesses all join in and support the festival with a retro market and create a historic atmosphere. In 2018 this will be on Sunday 29th July. Between 1,000 and 1,500 cars are expected to turn out, most will be from the 1950s through to the mid-1960s although the organisers do stretch their definition to include some later cars. Period 1950s or 1960s clothing is optional but is encouraged to help create the atmosphere. A lot of people will be dressed "in period". For men this is not too difficult, men's clothing has not changed that much over the years, a white shirt and a pair of slacks could do. For ladies it's a chance to dress up. To me it looks similar to the Goodwood Revival in spirit. More information about the event can be seen on their website here: https://retrofestivalcotedopale.com/presentationgb/ or on Retards Club here: https://www.Retards Club.com/retrofestivalcotedopale/ I have booked a hotel for the Saturday and Sunday so that we can attend during the day. 23. I quite like that!
  24. Is it just a project you are after or a nice example of the breed?
  25. I agree about orange cars, they look great. In fact my current daily is orange and it makes a lovely change to see it among the drab grey/silver/black brigade. S
