I stumbled across a vintage event in Northern France in July which looks pretty cool, so thought I would share in case others were interested.
Every 2 years, for 1 day in summer, the small town of Marquise (midway between Calais and Boulogne) bans all modern cars from the town and turns back the clock to the 1960s and only cars of that era are permitted in the town. Shops and local businesses all join in and support the festival with a retro market and create a historic atmosphere.
In 2018 this will be on Sunday 29th July.
Between 1,000 and 1,500 cars are expected to turn out, most will be from the 1950s through to the mid-1960s although the organisers do stretch their definition to include some later cars.
Period 1950s or 1960s clothing is optional but is encouraged to help create the atmosphere. A lot of people will be dressed "in period". For men this is not too difficult, men's clothing has not changed that much over the years, a white shirt and a pair of slacks could do. For ladies it's a chance to dress up. To me it looks similar to the Goodwood Revival in spirit.
More information about the event can be seen on their website here: https://retrofestivalcotedopale.com/presentationgb/ or on Retards Club here: https://www.Retards Club.com/retrofestivalcotedopale/
I have booked a hotel for the Saturday and Sunday so that we can attend during the day.
