  1. Used to love going to arena essex, I haven't been since the mid nineties when that was all they used, but I got pretty upset watching them all get smashed as I loved my dad's and brother-in-law's Tinas. I can't believe them now though having special classic events, I've seen photos of guys destroying genuine thirties buicks and stuff and Anglias, some of which look restorable. What's that all about? And then there's the vintage speedway. Yeah it looks a blast and serious fun, but there's some very unusual machinery being used and they're just going to be destroyed. I gues it does hold some kinda sick appeal though.
  2. That is so cool, nice one Keiran!! Top lad
  3. got to be blue but only if u like that looks ace but it needs- clear indicators and painting white i think!! also 2.8 splitter
  4. spam spam spam spam, spam spam spam spam wonderful spaaaaam!
  5. Yeah, its a bit scary, though he's done it very subtle and tried to keep it as close the originals as possible intead of chromed up, its got an alloy plate on the firewall and the footwells/inner wings are black fibreglass as per the originals. Shame I've not got a pic of the motor its a beast, 460 Ford from a Llincoln Continel also used in Torinos and Tbirds, so it started as 7.6 bored to round 8 litre, 4-speed top loader manual (a mans gearbox lol), jag back axle, spax all round, full tube RAM chassis, one-off exhausts closer to original spec with removable SVA mufflers (been removed ), 16" Image GTD 3-piece split rims, Edelbrock intake, Holley 350 four barrel, Ford Motorsport rocker covers etc. Its manic, 60 feels like doing 30 in another car, open up and you just get pushed back, its like nothing else, scary thing is it doesnt peak, it just keeps going - we had to slow down cos we got caught behind a sportsbike! I keep saying it should be painted original colours but he's got his mind set on Focus St Orange with black pipes and roll hoop. Its taken 10 years to build, and has been on the road for a year now. The engine's around 1976, and is age related plate despite being new (it has enough Jag suspension components to allow you to do this .
  6. I almost lost interest in my Mk1 a few years ago, due to many reasons, mostly not being allowed it at home on the driveway to work on, but also it has a few dings and dents, and at the time prior to OSF all there was to go on was Classic Ford, who had a nasty habit of featuring all cars that had all been bare metalled and oven baked or 30k rally cars, it made me wonder if what I' been doing was good enough and would I be proud to be seen in it at the end? Well, thankfully now the whole scene thanks to OSF is much closer together and people appreciate things just for what they are. At the end of the day you're either going to build a show queen or something to be used hard, if I were to build my mk1 up properly then I'd end up replacing every panel on it just for the sake of it, which defeats the object - its meant to be fun and affordable. I will have the roof re-skinned and the inner wings replaced and get it painted proprly one day but for the time being its not exactly shabby and will be great for a laugh. I first saw the Orange RS in Performance Ford years back, its the only time I bought the mag and it was because of that car - as it just sits so right, everything about it is 'right' and it just looks a right tool to hoon around in. So what if its got a few battle scars? It just means that its a real car and gets used as its supposed to, I'd prefer that over some coveted old museum piece that you're too afraid to use in the rain at the end of the day. Does anyone remember the Ferguson 4x4 Mk3 capri in Clasic Ford? It looked bloody immacuilate, not a scratch or dent on it. yet the underside shot with the transmission on display showed a fooken great hole in the floorpan! As my brother said, would you rather something that isn't quite perfect but solid on the outside, or something that looks perfect but is a patchwork quilt underneath?
  7. well then tell Ben to get on the blower to Massey Ferguson point taken, but on a light car like that it shouldnt need buckets of torque, it'll give it more than enough power to make it quite swift (have you seen the hayabusa caterhams on track, thy're blisteringly quick). Me bros cobra though, that's mental. Guessing around 500bhp plus from a big block, it was twisting the spaceframe and lifting wheels when we first fired it up
  8. at least you can turn em off when it all gets too pink
  9. Its upto you, what are you doing with the car then? Obviously what's considered cool is no chrome trim and all the embellishments binned and sprayed one colour for the sake of cleanliness, but if you're keeping the chrome trim then go for a black back panel, I think on a 4-door it would look good, on a 2-door I hate them. What's the overall look of the car gonna be? If you do it green again then keep the chrome trim, quarter bumpers on the front, do the back panel black and slam it on lotus steels and hubcaps
  10. Yeah it was nice and shiney, with shiney black window tints that you couldn't see through could try subtle pink pinstripe along each side with like it going up and down as per a medical graph at the end of the rear quarter, that would look cool? He had a small one in pink and yellow across the corner of the bonnet. Another mate has a Model Y hot rod thats always been a real hit on the show scene, that used to be olympic blue with ghost wet look flames down the side and bright neon pink detailing, as in engine block and the axle was all neon pink with a pink instripe down the side, that looked cool when you looked underneath. try that? Pink neons below a black one with blacked windows would look really bad too
  11. Very tidy mate
  12. Yeah that Mk1 and tyhe Mk5 on the container look nice ... was that a yellow GT6 i can spot in the foreground? What a shame. There's a yard I can see from the train passing by Dartford with a few Grannys in, two stacked in banger attire plus a gold Mk1 granny estate
  13. We feature shed loads of tuned Hayabusas in SF, and they are well tunable, and take to turbos like HP sauce to a bacon sarnie. most commonly people fit turbos to road bikes and put out around 300bhp, but Big CC's project pisstake is well known as a streetable drag bike and puts out over 540bhp, in a bike, that weighs next to nothing, http://www.bigccracing.com/shop/categor ... ategory=50 so when you ook at it that way it makes perfect sense, it weighs less than any car engine would, will rev happily past 10k, tuning wise the sky's the limit and is very strong and durable, as well as being smaller than the original pre-crossflow! For a small, light car such as the 100E or 105E and the sake of doing something different its ideal In that respect, its far better than dropping in zetecs, cossies and clattery old vaux units Oh, and by the way has anyone seen this, i came accross it at a show and it looks incredible. its smaller physically than a pinto, maybe even a crossflow - it really is that small - 2.6 litres too, and 300bhp, just imagine the possibilities with a twin turbo set up. CNC machining has a lot of dreadful creations to answer for, but this is marvellous. Reminds me of the old 3-litre F1 cars. http://thekneeslider.com/archives/2005/ ... -v8-engine I'd like that in a cologne replica Mk1 capri!
  14. I've got the latter type though the tyres are huge so they rub, can't wait to get the 4-spokes on it though. What's the best tyres for the late MK1 RS steels? I was going to relegate them to winter use to protect my polished alloys. They suit it with the sleeper theme going on though
  15. I'd go for alleycats too if you can find some soon enough, if not then deffo Image's RS alloys, my bro's got some of their halibrands which are awesome, quite pricey tho.
  16. Not pink! There's a doris lives my way who had a sierra, pink with yellow wheel trims (as in BRIGHT pink ) It looked terrible and couldnt work out why anyone would do it, sure the sierra isn't a great car but it didnt deserve that! Whats worse? Well she's traded it in....now she's about in a bright pink Galaxie mpv you can hardly miss it! My brother in law's old Mk5 was jet black, smoked taillights and blacked out windows, looked really mean in a gangsta kind of way, lowered on black & polished pepperpots

    Converse

My gf got me a pair of black/white high tops and they are so comfortable, can wear them all day and they're great for driving, always used to wear Vans, put these on and almost hit the roof, make most trainers feel like deep sea diving boots. However, they don't breathe very well, and wear thick socks cos they don't have any insulation, my toes were freezing this mornin' Oh and deffo avoid puddles and wet My gf collects them, has red, baby pink, shocking pink, green, black, blue, girraffe print....
  19. On your bike? I might pedal down on my tricycle then
  20. Congratulations mate, looked a superb day

    DELETED

    Wow, that looks well sweet!
  22. I'd love a Mexico with a webasto, all the fun of a open top, but with the great lines of the Mk1 intact
  23. Oooh, I'm thinking full hydraulic, wir spokes Oh dear. There's a 59 Caddy ambulance near me done as the Ghostbusters motor, its really well. Just been sat on the driveway for years as it belonged to an 18 year old and his brother, who died racing in a saxo They usedit as his hearse tho.
  24. I remember going to the Thurrock Cruise in my brother in law's Tina, years ago ad a Mk2 Granny pulled inand just sat on the deck. Everyone just ran over as it was the first in the UK and no one had seen one before, it was really cool. It also had the loudest sound system in the UK at the time. I'd say MK3/4 Zodiac, the Mk3-5 Tina works well but its been done quite a bit now. Besides Mk4s aren't sought after so should be affordable for a good 'un.
