I love fords so much but I also love my Interceptors .. not more but the same >>> >>> >> >>> >>> >>> >> and I know this isn't a car but most may well remember them ... something I have had since I was 18yrs old and I am 53 now!! >>> >>> >>>
  6. Hi Rayy Pack, have often used old bottles, I give them a good clean with washing up liquid and then leave them in bleach overnight, it brings then up as best as possible I find, not perfect like new but always so much much better than when you started anyway

  8. Met a chap last week who now has a Mk 2 Esc RS1800 (very rare and worth a fortune as you all know) .. anyway we chatted for a good couple of hours, we were talking about the small script on his number plate of the RS, "RS Dealer MIKE YOUNG" it said, anyway I asked him "did you know Mikes brother was John Young the propietor of "SuperSpeed", "Yes he said" and began to tell me a story, he saw a cheap Escort for sale in 1987, it was advertised as a V6, out of curiosity he went to have a look as he loved Escorts and always had Twin Cams back from the age of 18yrs old, anyway when he got there he opened the bonnet to have a look and noticed the odd things that pointed to it being an original Twin Cam, so he bought it, he said he pulled the V6 out, sold it and put a Lotus Twin Cam back in, he then sold the car as a Lotus Twin cam and made a few pennies .. happy Days ... he now realises it was a Genuine SuperSpeed complete with Twin Petrol tanks, although not all original interior etc..he gave me a few Pics I have added below, he sold in 1987 soon after he bought it and converted it back to a Lotus engine... but it hasn't been taxed or sorn since.. maybe it got broken, who knows... >> Here some Pics of it >> >>> >>> >>> >>>> >>> >>> With kind regards Grant
  9. Maybe Ray's correct here, I did use the Fernox central heating descaler and slude remover, I think it is designed for rust aswell but have a google about it, I did say by PM to Stephen that is was F1 but that is a inhibitor designed to used after cleaning in a central heating system.. please note that Stephen
  10. Although rarer than twin cams the twin cam have more of a following so I guess they are more desireable as a twincam, as we know things are worth only as much as people will pay, so with a bigger audience for the twin cam maybe they would fetch better money, but who knows as superspeeds very rarely come up for sale as there are so few left
  11. You need to use central heating flushing and descaler in the system ... that's what I did and it done a real good job, I put the whole botttle in that was designed for 25 household rads, I then ran the car for 2 hour's ' 2500rpm then flushed it out, it did a really good job, of course you could leave it in there and drive it around for a few days then flush it
  12. I spoke quite a few times to a chap who bought a 4 speed V6 superspeed Escort new from John young who was the brains behind SuperSpeed, he said he used to blow away the twin cam escorts in that day, the V6 superspeed Escorts were converted with a V6 from new using a Twin Cam based Escort, I know this sounds criminal nowdays but that was the case, He sent me some pics of it when it was new, it is still about now but with red stripes rather than blue that it had from new. >>> >>> This is a current picture of the same car's bay >>> >>> This is a current picture of the side wing badge >> >>> >>> This was the original brochure that he got when he ordered his S/Speed escort .. note the date on the top in pencil, sadly he didnt want me to have it, it was very sentimental to him, he absolutly loved his car he told me, it is nice that it is still around and has been restored and is being used now. >>> >>> Superspeed were the 1st to fit the V6 in Escorts and all the others copied them, they even put the V6 in the Capri before Ford done it, they did correspond with Ford and even still gave the Full Ford Warrenty with their Cars
  13. Hi Keith, you may remember me asking you if you wanted to sell you Apache, ... hope all is going well and you are enjoying it? ... the other 3 you are aware of... do you mean Apache's? ... where are they.. how did you find these people then? can you not get them to reply to this thread and maybe contribute to it with pics etc? I do have a lot of pics of V6 escorts to add, can you do your best to get them to respond Keith? I know there is someone with a Crayford Eliminator too somehwere, I have tried to contact him before but to no avail, (the Eliminator was Crayfords version of Escort mk1 V6, I guess you may know that but it was more for everyone's benift) Get some pics up for us Keith.. come on you know it makes sense!!
  14. Hello Paul Have always been fasinated with the Essex V6, .. many underated opinions of the engine and also negativity of the escort V6.. but only from people that have never driven or been in one, the people that have had them and been in them absolutly love them, I have done a lot of research myself.. hanker'd after one since I was 17 and saw one, I then saw an Ad for a Ford Escort 3.0, ZF box and diff etc £3000, wished I had bought it as it was a Superspeed, but I didnt realise at the time . I am building one now but it is still in Kit form!! Anyone I know that has had them or been in them say this sort of thing >> Many many years ago when I was about 16-17 the guy who lived next door to my nan used to own a V6 Superspeed Escort, he took me out in the superspeed a couple of times. That memory has never left me to this day and im now 50, most amazing car to have been driven in, I used to sit in my nans living room and look out daydreaming about it watching him work on it and I used to go out and plague him with questions on it. This is without doubt the car that has left the biggest impression on me throughout my whole life. I cant wait until mine is done Great to see a thread started about them.. Nice one Paul
