  1. Lol a nice day to be at the beach. Today I'll mostly be flying my rc helicopter. Would have hit the coastline if my other half wasnt working today though.
  2. Is it a real car? Thought it was a photoshop jobby.
  3. My manager at work saw it today. The man who owns a mint MK2 1600E that does about 25 miles a year!
  4. Looks like it may have been a 4 door? Yeh, id be loosing the arches if it were mine!
  5. So whats the best/most important button?
  6. Why not get them refurbed, new tyres and fit them? Have 2 sets of wheels and change them as your mood suits. I doubt you would be the 1st or last person to have a few sets of wheels for a car. Prefer steelies myself but its your car not mine. Rich
  7. I cant believe you've got space for it
  8. Got a logbook for my car recently. Seas historic vehicle on it. I assume thats it?
  9. Whats VHI? Surely DVLA arnt going to roll out new V5s to everyone. Must be at the point of change of keeper.
  10. No. But ive always wanted one
  11. What about a 100E pop? Great little cars that can still be got for reasonable money.
  12. I going to keep mine MOTd. I appreciate that genuine classic enthusiasts look after their cars as best they can. But a fresh set of eyes looking over it cant be a bad thing. What about (even reasonably new) brake flexi hoses? When a car is being motd the flexis are checked when under pressure. Close inspection of all steering, brakes and suspension components and vehicle structure. Someone who knows what theyre doing looking over your car cant be a bad thing surely. Worth £40 a year of my money.
  13. Im going to keep MOTing mine just because....
  14. Ny new screen saver
  15. You couldnt move for em along Southend seafront back in the early 90's
  16. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Escort-mk1-rear-light-covers/292526232093?hash=item441bec121d:g:cZ4AAOSwC2JazALj Thems the ones
  17. Think theres some on ebay. Cant do a link as im on my phone. Take a look mate
  18. This ^^^ i typed a few weeks ago lol. Thought id add it to the thread anyway. Good choice by the way . Get the decals. If you dont like em, peel em back off
  19. All paint. I saw the stickers on ebay but the seller sead there were a few variants in sizes and may not be a perfect fit. And i was worried about sticker peel at a later date. I had the wheels shot blasted. Then i primered, wetflatted and painted the wheels silver. Waited a few weeks then masked them up for the black. Waited another week and laquered them. 2 hours per wheel of masking up. Apparently the way to do it is paint the wheel centre black, mask off the sections then paint over with the silver. I must have too much time on my hands lol. Yes they are 5.5j wheels
  20. Ok. Thanks anyway. Tbh i wasnt looking for seat covers yet but im going to be using the car for the 1st time on saturday and i knew the interior wasnt the best ( all time n money getting it on the road) so now on the lookout. My other half came into work today and its the 1st time she's seen the car since i got it. She sead the interior looks awfull and she wants to buy me some seat covers to tidy it up. You know the black leather look ones like you could buy from Halfords? Need i say more?????
  21. I know this is an old thread but are the covers still for sale? Ive got fishnet recaros up front. Would these fit? Rich
  22. Thanks for your advice Col. Its been invaluable. Never straight forward with aftermarket parts
  23. Im going to be fitting all of the suspension on my car this evening to see how it all fits then taking it all back off again to i can paint/treat/underseal etc the chassis and under the inner wings. Making sure itll be a straight forward bolt on jobby the 2nd time round. As sead ^^ the outer mount bolts bottom out on the chassis so its something that needs addressing. Whats the best way to go about it? Washers as above? Cutting the bolts down to suit? Drilling holes into the chassis? My only issue with drilling the chassis is the hole is going to have to be at least 10mm and the chassis isnt very wide at the front. Worried about affecting the structual integrity. Especially as there maybe a little extra stress on the chassis from the uprated rollbar. Rich Edit Just having a google and found this https://www.historicmotorsport.net/shop/new-parts/body/escort-mk1-mk2-twin-cam-anti-rollbar-brackets/ . Washers between the clamp and bracket. An option? Ive tried already tightening the clamps down on the bushes with the bar fitted and tbh im wondering if this is the way to go.
  24. Before thankfully lol. That being sead, the parts they offer are a bargain compared with the price of some of the parts i need for my car.
  25. I just googled it and put in ts escorts (honest ) by mistake. No car parts for sale there!
