Ford never fitted capris in the UK with electric mirrors, the only capri that came with electric mirrors was the tickford capri and they were not the same as the pictured ones, the pictured ones have come from a fx4 london taxi, they do have the ford logo on them, it's a simple conversion to fit and you can see clearly out of the passenger mirror unlike when people use the drivers side mirror from a lhd capri, the angle is all wrong to see from the right hand seat. mike

As Jo says I have the capri that Alfie and Kat left the square in, The one used now is a early 4 speed one that belonged to James "system11" not sure if he was a member on hear. It has the private alf (Alfie) plate on as the bbc don't like showing the proper plates,so I am told as the even asked to buy just the reg number as mine was shown when they last used it. It is on laser wheels as mine has rs 7x13 4 spokes and they thought they were laser wheels "heathens" and will have the standard red stripes not the purple ones not pink posse tut tut I know I am a tart but even I would have to remove those straight away, you will get so see a lot of the car as they will be using it for the next year at least, and that was the reason they did not use mine as they were only looking to buy one not rent one. mike http://www.hantscapriclub.co.uk/members/mike.html hears a clip when alfie bought the car http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCtCBMj8 ... re=related

looks like I should be able to make this one. mike -
Look you are only pissed about getting a ticket not the actual offence of speeding whice you should. I too have a st focus and according to my sat nav at 80 on my speedo the sat tells me I am doing 72 so for you to get caught at 88, on your speedo you must have been doing nearly a ton, so come on take it like a man, I too speed and have the tickets to prove it, but I am the one that made the choice to speed so when I get caught I pay up as it was my choice to speed no one else's. mike

2.8's only had 160 bhp in the brochure Like the 3.0 Essex had only 136bhp in the brochure... For real the 2.8 injector had 148 bhp For real the Essex lump had 145 bhp but way more torque than a Cologne 2.8. And about 200 bhp from a Cologne V6 all day long.........not even in your dreams. They are not reliable enough to handle that much power all day long. If you want real power for money Id say Pinto. If you want torque from low down go Essex V6. All I can say is my old 2.8 turbo had done 130k on its engine and that was from a kit fitted when new, so yes on that all day long. but come on look at how much it costs to get a pinto up to v6 power and even then it just sonuds like a fart, Come on smoke em you know I will shoot my load to quick at santa pod and it will all end in embarassment for me again. mike
-
I cant under stand why people saying pinto when with the 2.8 you get 160 bhp ,power steering, recaros, billys, and if a special a lsd as standard, it would cost over a grand to get that fitted to a pinto and thats not including the motor. and as I found out to get about 180 bhp out of a pinto I had been told it would cost between 2-4k, I don't do engine work so can only go on what I was told, so I will be getting rid of the pinto capri I got and turboing my 2.8 and that will only cost about 1500 and that gives me 200bhp all day long. So as you can tell for me 2.8. mike

Right a friend rang me the other day asking if I was interested in a 280 that was for sale for £1800 mmmm. Well we mailed them straight away and got this reply. I am emailing you regarding the 1987 Ford Capri 280> Brooklands that we have for sale.> > The car is in excellent condition, with 92k miles mainly> motorway, non-smoker, never been involved in any crash, no> scratches, everything works as it should. > The full service history is available, MOT June 2010/ Tax> until Apr 2010. The car is currently located in Cardiff and> the price that we are asking for this car is £1870.> > > We have recently relocated to Dublin where my husband got> his temporary job transfer. > We will be staying here for the next year and> therefore we need to make some financial arrangements..so> we've decided that the Ford must go.> > A few days ago a person told us that she is very interested> in purchasing so my husband had to fly back to UK to close> the deal. Since we trusted his word, my husband came all the> way to Cardiff the next day and met that person but> the guy turned up with £200 less than the asking price...> the problem is not about the money that my husband spent for> the plane tickets.. but he lost 2 working days for nothing.> > > Time is very precious for us as we are involved in> some major events right now and don't have too much time> at our disposal; we are a serious family and this person> really disappointed us..> > Since we've been disappointed once, this time we want> to make sure that you are seriously interested in buying> this car before we meet and my husband will fly to UK only> if we have an assurance of your intentions. Of course it> will be no problem if you decide not to buy the car. But we> want to be sure that you will be there to meet my husband> and handle the deal in a civilised manner.> > > If you are still seriously interested in going further with> the deal let us know.> > Cheers,> Lisa and Scott Evans> > P.S. Here are some pictures of the car . Just click> on the weblink below:> http://s939.photobucket.com/albums/ad234/fordcapri280/> Well that is worth £4-6k any day so we maild back again but as we all know if it sounds to good it usaly is well this is next reply and i dont just smell a fish I smell a whole trawlerjust getting back from a haul. As for the financial part, best way of getting us assured> of both, buyer's serious intentions and availability of> money and also a good way for you to reserve the car is to> have £1870 transferred into your name via MoneyGram. > > All you have to do is find a MG office in your town and ask> a friend or your spouse to go there to make the transfer.> He/she will have to send the money into your name, with> Cardiff as receiver location. > When the transfer is done you will send us a photo/scan of> the payment receipt as proof of your payment.> > > This way we will be sure that you will actually come and my> husband will fly to meet you within the next couple of days.> You will test-drive the car and if you decide to buy it you> will go together with my husband at a Money Gram office in> Cardiff, you will pick up your money, then we will take care> of all the paperwork to transfer the ownership into your> name.> > If everything goes well, my husband will be able to fly to> UK within the next 2 days. > > As you can see we are not asking you to send any money in> advance to us. You will be the receiver of the funds and> only you will be able to pick up the money from MoneyGram,> only in Cardiff/UK.> > > We believe our business proposal is reasonable for both of> us. > So, let us know your intentions.> > Regards,> Lisa and Scott> > Right the cars reg is E349 VOV which is a proper 280 but is it thers dose anyone on hear know it, mike

Some cars registered in 73 are tax free but the car had to be built before december 31 1972. so save your pound a yours was built in june 73. mike
-
First thing the labour government did was scrap the rolling 25 year free car tax when they got into power in 97 so only cars built before 1973 are tax free, Then it gets complicated, It then depends on if the car is built before 2001 ans what engine size it is. If built after 2001 then it depends on the co it emits, You can tax your car for 6 or 12 months and if you lay your car up,you can get a refund on the remaining full months you have left, but if the car is not taxed you have to declare it SORN or you will get a fine.
