  1. Yep, those are the official Group 1 top plates. When searching for "just-in-case" spares in the 80's I came across a Group 1 air filter housing, but it was cracked in the area where those plates go. Needless to say, the plates hadn`t been fitted, so I concluded that they were there to stop the filter housing flexing and cracking
  2. Welcome on board. Out of interest, how does Sweden manage classic cars with respect to CO2, modifications and insurance, limitations in ULEZ type ares etc.? (Only out of interest - you don't have to reply!) 164 bhp sounds impressive with so few modifications to the engine. The Ford Group 1 "road legal" Escorts had 'officially' 140 bhp and in the 80's it was rumoured that you'd be lucky to get 140 on a dyno.. (I really must get mine on a dyno sometime.....!) Happy 2026 motoring!
  3. You could "weld" it with a soldering iron to get the car on the move again. Takes a bit of patience but I've even repaired moped plastic fairings that way and they're still holding a year later.
  4. Germany has dumped hydrogen at the moment. Looked promising as the infrastructure concept would be like for petrol / diesel. One of the Top Honchos whom I know working on it drove a hydrogen car for a few years but the transport and storage isn't so easy and safe. An interesting result which came out is that the hydrogen filling stations make a lot of noise so wouldn't be acceptable in residential areas. The helicopters which my employer makes are all rated to use SAF and we use it for the test flights in the company, but still too expensive to use in practice.
  5. The change to electric will come, so can't see Jaguar's move as being bad. UK has a pretty good record on changing from ICE to electric too. Maybe if UK were in the EU and Jaguar were not an indian company there might have been more resistance.. Take heart, in that keeping dinosaurs like BMW and VW alive longer won't eliminate their possible (probable?) demise,, and Jaguar could become a shining light again. (I'll refrain from saying that the general idea of global warming being created by cars is, at the best, fragile, since the normal state of the planet has been a tropical forest and (IIRC) we are currently in the second of only two Ice Ages in the planet's history, so a return to the norm of a hot tropical planet is - as seen in cycles of millions of years - natural and not man-made.). Oops, I didn't refrain from, saying it, sorry!) Incidentally, I see your location on Earth is temporary. When do you plan to leave? I'm still waiting for my ship to arrive, I'm originally from what the inhabitants here refer to as Betelgeuse, and they said they'll be back in 1765, so I'm suspecting that they don't want me back. Bugger.
  6. King of Pain (Live Unplugged) - Alanis Morisette
  7. ... and, as the number implies, I would imagine Ford Anglias too .... 🙂 (Ford Anglia 105E)
  8. Might be Fiesta too, but it's the original clip(s) on my Mk2 RS2000 edit: used on Fiesta 01.05.1996 - 31-12-1988 Part number is 6030655 CLIP - (BRAKE PIPE) At least at my "local" Ford shop in Germany they seem to be available:
  9. or maybe the ones in the recently updated Fiesta XR2 thread... just found this photo of my resto and they're definitely the type like the XR2 bits
  10. IIRC they're the black ones in this pic
  11. My vacuum tube saviour!
  12. New to this forum, but used to contribute to the Rallye Sport Escorts forum, which is sadly in decline due to many different issues. Some may know me from the Stag forum(s) where I'm still active, and Ferrari Chat (where I'm no longer active). My Mk2 RS2000 is only 20 years younger than myself. Took it off the road many years ago to do a 100% restoration - which is now complete (as far as anything on these cars is complete!). It's a Mk2 which was originally delivered with most of the Group 1 stuff from the first dealer. No X-Pack wings, but 69 Ltr tank, twin 44IDF's Grp 1 head, and all the suspension stuff too. The last few years have been spent restoring a Triumph Stag, so not much got done on the Escort. After having found an original Grp 1 distributor (actually it's an american capri one originally) I was plagued with awful engine running for years and spent months trying everything to cure it, until I lost interest and parked the car up. Last year a guy on the old Rallye Sport Forum told me that the vacuum was on the wrong side of the distributor. Follwing a few exchanges, we determined that the bona fide Ford original fitting instructions are WRONG! Just got that sorted, but then started building a new house. Now waiting for some good weather to enjoy the RS on the road again after several years.
