  1. That's the one Russ , do you know any more about it .
  2. Hi Jo , I don't think it was , it had an air fuel gauge on the dash and my son thinks it might have been a v8 . It was running on Saturday not sure about the Sunday .
  3. Im looking to see if anyone has some pics or info about an ermine white Anglia that was at classic ford show . It had pepper pot alloys on it was really well turned out car and went well , I never got a chance to speak to the guy or see under the bonnet .
  4. Nice one Russ I thought I was losing my marbles there , ill get my mate to dig out the Street Machine feature and post some pics up , do you remember Trevor Langfields rover v8 Mk 1 escort , it had the headers sticking out the bonnet ?
  5. Does anyone remember a yellow mk1 escort with a rover v8 in . I think it was featured in street machine mag back in the day , when I worked in Slough many moons ago I was friends with the guy who owned it when it was in the magazine , his name was Paul he was mates with Carl and they ran a mk3 Zepher in the rover v8 challenge , I think the escort might have been owned by Dave Warren before that , any pics or info would be good .
  6. That's looking great mate have you had the Zepher at the strip , I remember John saying the new owner had changed the diff ratio and changed the car . Me and my sons had went down to classic ford show there were two nice mk1 Zephers running there both black one totally pro street and the other had a small block chevy with gas not so much of a looker but went good .
  7. That's brought back a load of memories for me , that was my old mate John Thomsons car getting build in my mates yard . The first pic it had a 351 cleveland in it but could not get steering round it . Me and my eldest son went to York in this car some good times there . My mate stays in Canada now , the Zepher looks amazing do you have some more pics and info on the car now ?
  8. Thanks for that guys, do you know if the drag racing is day or night time ?
  9. I'm going to Malta on 22 September and taking in 3 days of drag racing at Halfar. Does anyone know of any garages or speed shops close by that I could get a wee souvenir for my car and also any other places of interest. Thanks Jim
  10. Did Tims , car used to run a v6 with nitrous , is there any pics of old car and rebuild anywhere ?
  11. Were these from Tim Adams old drag Anglia , what happened to this car ?
  12. I use Alan at AVA for my Nissan sr20det Anglia its got an Omex 500 , worth a phone call , im happy with his work .
  13. Ive got 225 at the front , I thought going much lighter at the back may just compress the spring. What poundage of spring are Escorts running on rear coilovers ?
  14. Im not sure if the spring rate has a greater effect or not , maybe someone else knows . My car has 220lbs two and a quarter inch coilovers, it feels fine on the road not much different from the way it was with the telescopic shocks and leaf springs .
  15. Thanks Katana, every days a school day.
  16. The article Katana put up is what I was looking for, I'll just need to try and get my head round it. I had the car at Shakespeare last September's OSF meet, my clutch was slipping and I wasn't getting very good launches, I'm not sure if the rear of the car squatted or lifted on launch, this would have been a good starting point. I had set the shocks at their softest settings, should I have done this? Any further advice is most appreciated. Thanks again.
  17. Thanks for the replies, I've fitted a panhard rod , the 4 bars are 20.5 inches long, the top bars do point down but I would think there is about 4inches between the bars at the front. Would moving the top bars down an inch make any difference? Is there a formula for working this out? I'll try to get a couple of pictures up . Does anyone have any pictures of their 4 bar setup ?
  18. I've changed the rear axle setup on my Anglia from leaf springs and telescopic shocks to 4 bar with coil over shocks . Does anyone have any information as to getting the best setting for drag racing . At the moment my bottom links are almost parallel to the ground and the top links are pointing down , this was my guess when the rear end was getting fabricated last year, I'm hoping to make it adjustable to get the best setup for launching .
  19. Since the last update the car has been finalised for now, both on the rollers and prepped for drag racing. For the first time ever I had a healthy enough engine to complete a map all the way to full revs but to keep it good I had the boost wound down a bit from what it was at in the CA to keep things safe. That 304whp was made at 18psi. After a month of tweaking things and buying the last bits and bobs we landed at shakespeare county last weekend for the old ford championship. As this was the first outing to the track on five years I was only aiming to get to the end, times weren't a huge concern :wack: First run was using all road tyres and after one gear change I could smell the clutch and feel it starting to slip. Managed a 13.6 though and it didn't get any slower all day mid track things were getting scary so I quickly changed to my favourite purchase These made an instant difference and the car managed a 12 second pass with no nos for the first time ever and the 60ft came down from my personal best by 0.2, I think a healthy clutch would have improved it even more. We then used the gas, and although a 12.5 was managed, I blew every single hose off of my inlet, even the rubber seals out of my injectors the revs went though the roof and when it was put back together there is a top end rattle. End of weekend! Got some good races though [/url [url=http://s4.photobucket.com/user/ekjim/media/DSCI0254_zps63e14e75.jpg.html] Until next time...
  20. Pm sent.
  21. Thanks mate , how much for them mate and could you send me a couple of pics .
  22. Does anyone know where i can get a pair of 14inch dia drag slicks or full slicks for racing , dont want to spend a fortune just wanting to try something different from my road tyres
  23. Thats a really good 60ft time Dan you must be giving it some revs of the line , is it just me or would anyone else like to know your back axle setup. Im booked in for September at Shakespeare so i hope to meet some of you guys there
  24. Good stuff Dan , i'm hoping to get my car to Shakespeare this weekend , i've gone from a welded 4.11 diff and 13inch michelin slicks( my 60ft was 2.3 terminall 124 crossing line 5th gear), to a narrowed dana 35c with a 3.55 diff ratio. I've been thinking about this gearing thing for ages now, so if we're, lucky enough to get racing, we shall see what the difference is
