thanks toby i was running around 260whp and a shot of gas about 60hpjets with 13 inch michelin slicks but as i dont have a linelock yet i was stuggling to do a burnout so i dont know if i was getting any benefit from the slicks. my 60ft times are not good at all it was 2.3 seconds for a 12.1 at 126 mph using 5th gear for the first time crossing the, line so i need some advice to get this much better for a better et

after coming back from drag racing at stratford with my anglia , i was going to change the welded diff. when i removed the shafts, i noticed the splines on one side were twisted. is this common i've got a chance of a quaiffe atb diff for an anglia with half shafts, they just look same as standard shafts ie number of splines, do you think they are quaiffe shafts? Or, how can i tell the difference? thanks Jim

thanks .i did use a grade colder on the spark plugs ngk bpr8es .ill find out the fuel pressure tonight its an nitrous oxide systems single fogger nozzle for fuel injection cars. my engine is fuel injected, could i have held it on for to long ?
-
i dont know the nitrous pressure the nitrous jet was 37 and the fuel 32 im going to do a compression check tomorow my mate wullie brown says the spark plug is like the fuse so if thats melted then that was the warning its went lean but i checked there wasnt any fuel in the oil tonight and put another plug in and its still the same

After a good weekend at the drag strip and with a few alterations to the car i managed a 13.2 at 112mph...trying to get this into the twelves I used a 50 shot of nitrous 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear, managed a 13.0 at 115mph but after crossing the line the car had dropped a cylinder. After checking at the pits number 3 spark plug had melted the electrode. I've changed the plug after giving ther car an overnight and there is still only 3 cylinders...Would anyone know what I have done?: Thanks, Jim.

Hi all, been a long time since the last update... Since last time over a year ago many things have changed, but since early 2008 the goal for me was to get the car to run a 12 second quarter mile, preferably on full street trim. This year various things changed engine wise, slight specs upped i.e injectors and on omex ecu was installed...This allowed an engine remap which created 274hp at the rear wheels at 6000rpm, a lot lower than the intended 7k. I was still happy with this and over the past few months I have made my own ladder bar setup and lowered the gear ratio to 4:1. Today I had the car at the local drag strip ( crail ) to see how things went...With me I also took a pair of slicks and a 70hp NOS system ( which i intended not to use ). The first run after rolling off the line was 13.7 at 110mph Which i was happy with but i eventually lowered this time to a 13.2 at 112mph, still with a gentle launch and full street trim and no gas. After only one other attempt, with a slight touch of gas I managed a 13.0 at 115mph, but didnt get another go due to a plugs melting at the end of the quarter ....im very happy with this but gutted that there was no twelve! Just thought I would share with you all Jim. P.s i might try and avoid putting pics up the now due to a possible upcoming feature in a magazine

Excellent pictures! Does anyone know the engine or what times the red/brown anglia done? It looks amazing Jim.
-
thanks thats what i think just put the figures into my mates chart and i think the top speed would be around 80mph

my mates given me a loan of a welded diff to try on the quarter i thought it was a 4.11 but now just as im ready to fit i checked and its a 5.3 my car is an anglia with nissan 200 1.8 turbo is this worth trying ?
-
thanks i was thinking of a higher ratio to begin with but when i changed from 3.77 to 3.89 there was no difference with et or mph, although the 3.89 was welded. i was in fourth gear across the finish line at just over 6000rpm. the reason i was thinking going 3.54 is some of the cossie turbo guys seem to run good times with this ratio, any other views would be appreciated

has anyone run a 12second pass on an open english diff ? i managed 13.5 at 110mph last season firstly on an open 3.77 diff then changed this for a welded a 3.89. this gave me the same!!! but because of my bodged job of welding, the diff broke on launching. as i've still not got the money together for a slip diff, i was going to fit a 3.54 unit on my quest to break into the twelves what do you guys think ?
-
Thats me with the supra I think the civic was the faster of the two of them though...
-
Good pics! Love the nissan mk1, do you have any more info on the car? Jim.
-
carbs look excelent davy, theyll sound amazing on song . what will you do for engine-management now or do you fit a distributor ? do you have any more build up pics and are you hoping for this season ?
-
thanks for the replies i'll give this some thought. before i jump in, its just a matter of cost and i do want to keep the car fully road going. does anyone have a noticable 60ft or quarter mile et with just changing from an open diff to a welded unit or spool or other lsd type ?

I tried welding my diff up last season. I drove the car to Crail, about 100 miles, and got a few runs in it, lunched the diff when i pulled the revs up a bit more on launching. After having a look at a part of one for sale here, I think I may have made a balls of it, though im a welder to trade! I just put a small run joining the planitory gears together, does anyone have any info and pics of how to do this properly?

This was a video taken from summer last year racing a friend of my son at crail. The civic is supercharged with 295whp but I think he has posted the wrong quarter time on the video...as far as i know the actual time was 13.8. Jim.
