  1. i tried a welded diff last year for drag racing and i lunched it on the startline not sure if i had put enough weld round the planitory gears though
  2. thanks guys when you say it bolts straight in do you use your own crown wheel and bolt this on? does anyone have any pics of fitting one and where's cheapest to buy one ? thanks
  3. im thinking of getting a quiafe atb diff for my anglia to help with traction when launching could anyone give me personel experience of this diff and what is involved in fitting one ?
  4. Hope to have the anglia at this! Should be a good event
  5. Personally, when I was looking a couple of years ago for a solution to cheap power ( an honest 200bhp ) I went through the decisions between cosworth and nissan and in the end up I went for the 1.8 turbo 200sx engine... I might be slightly biased now but for value for money I think this is the best option to go for. Standard you get a 15.3 quarter mile ( quicker than a standard cosworth ) and it makes 166bhp at the rear wheels. Without spending a lot of money and not opening the engine up yet I have made 250bhp at the rear wheels, still a bit from full potential, and I have a reliable car that can be used when I want to and can be driven cheaply to and from events. Roughly, the power, mods etc can be shown at this link... http://classicford.mine.nu/forum/topic. ... C_ID=10239 So from me...the best option Jim.
  6. lotus twin turbo v8 is great choice of engine thats totaly different . good luck with it ive just bought a second hand omex 500 programable ecu for my nissan ca18det anglia .i dont know anyone thats using this ecu but would like to hear from anyone else doing similar . merry christmas Jim

  8. Looked like an excellent day!
  9. thanks for that toby im still running standard shafts at the moment and i lunched my planitory gears last time when launching on welded diff was going to hit the gas on that run in second gear to try break into the 12s but just broke instead so i need a rethink as my terminal is 110 but my 60ft is abismal 2.5 seconds my my mate says i need 13inch tire with big sidewall and a gearing into from 3.9 into the 4s but with a turbod car im not so sure any advice welcome
  10. im going to get some either slicks or drag radials to help my launching i was thinking of 13inch dia my tyres just now are 205 does anyone know what the max width would be on stock anglia axle and arches ? iwas going to use rs steels if this helps
  11. Think slicks are going to be the next thing... Could you give me a contact for either of they two and I could ask
  12. Been wondering for a while now so I thought it would be best to ask....how i should go about getting my cars times down...? At the minute my car has done a best time of 13.5 at 110mph with a 2.5 sec 60ft time. People have told me that for having a terminal speed so high, the times should be down on what they are When on the quarter i was getting wheelspin...i was using a 3:9 welded diff, 16inch alloys and road tyres, launching at about 3k, which is not showing positive boost and at the time the car was making 270hp at the rear wheels... With the car being turbo'd, what should i be doing to see my times into the twelves? Or even reduce the 60ft times? Thanks, Jim.
  13. Thanks for the comments! So far the car has went 13.5, but that was on a lower boost setup than i was running today. Today i also had a newly installed welded diff, a new clutch and a nitrous oxide system with 50hp jets that were all unable to be tested Theres always next time! (excuse the tape you can see on the grille in the first pic, trying to save my air flow meter from the rain! )
  14. This was on the way back from crail, no runs though due to bad weather Jim.
  15. great pics! do you have any info on the blue mk1 cortina with the gold stripe on it? thanks.
  16. thanks kev, i've got an walbro 255 gph efi fuel pump, fuel pressure is 36.3 psi or 2.5 bar running. my engine is an unopened ca 18 det so i'm not sure how much power would be okay. the car currently runs 13.5 at 107mph with 3.77 diff no lsd 205x16 toyo proxyes
  17. Ive bought a second hand nitrous oxide kit and wondered if anyone could give me some advice? Its a nos systems kit for a fuel injected engine, it has a single fogger nozzle and the jet sizes are nitrous 040 and fuel 028. Does anyone know what bhp these jets are and has anyone using one of these kits that could give me some advice what to expect?
  18. Looking for a pair of drag radials for the back of the anglia the now but im not to sure what to go for The rims im using are 6x15. Could anyone advise me on what ones to go for? Thanks Jim

  22. Thanks again, glad most people seem to like it The now i am changing the back end of the car, anti tramp bars, leaf spring changes etc...so ill post up when i get some pics. Thanks, Jim
  23. am looking for some ideas for steel wheels and tyres for the back of my anglia am currently running 205 / 45 x 16 toyo proxy T1S i would like abit more sidewall what would be the best for drag racing ? im still keeping standard leafes just now though im going to triangulate my anti tramp kit any ideas and / or pics would be great jim
  24. Rolling road update: This was with the car running on slightly lower boost ( 15psi ) and is only on 5500rpm due to a rev limiter . The graph i have shows the car making 250 at the wheels but during the runs it made 270 at the wheels but i dont have a graph to prove Still more to come when the limiter is gone and the boost is upped A video of a run... Thanks jim
