Flippin heck, poor Capper....
-
If you still wanna do it theres one at the bottom of my sig, dont know how to get it off myspace though
-
Haha not quite! They're all bolted on but the tape was to cover the exposed heads for an MOT and i never got round to finishing! FatCapri nice to see you didnt know you where on here!! Me and Chris still talk about the time you took us for a spin in the beast!
-
Each to there own but i understand his plight. 2 doors look a lot sportier in my opinion but thats not to say you cant have a wicked 4 door! just look at some of our members cars, 4 doors can look proper smart and yes it also adds to the sleeper look. I like my Coritna and she's got 4 doors! Each to there own though, if i where you mate id get it, 2 doors are well expensive and if you've got a nice pinto then you've nothing to lose! Go get it

Heres mine dude on slotmags too but with tarmac arches
-
Looked at pretty much all the mk5 cortina vids on youtube when i though of looking for the Taunus! Theres loads of good vids, how cool is this for example? and the old adverts watch for the near flip on the reverse 180!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwBNaZs0nfI theres loads more too

I love the rat look myslef, i think it looks extremely mean.. Hard to explain but imagine Madmax style dont mess with me, pull up next to a gleaming impreza and thrash it in a matt black capri with rusty bumpers and 9 inch wide wheels oh yeah! Burstin peoples eardrums with a staight through exhaust at 7500rpm sideways,,, grrr Sorry got a bit carried away
-

come on lads i wanna see this! -
Right, heres my Refusal of an MOT cert
Daveyboy20 replied to Daveyboy20's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
Oh right is that that one? It is shagged its all squashed out of the sides and cracked, i htink it is some sort of polybush as it appears to be yellow (and black!) but it must be nearly as old as the car itself! -

Daveyboy20 replied to Daveyboy20's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
Yeah i gess ill have to ask him to be sure, i suppose ill see it when i strip it for the bushes - not looking forward to that job but at least it'll look good and handle well after! Gonna give it all a lick of black hammerite 2 add to the effect. What do you think orange or yellow polys? -
001 Offside rear tyre depth below legal requirment of 1.6mm 002 Nearside front anti-roll bar rubber bush deteriorated resulting in excessive movement 003 Nearside front (bush) torsion bar excessive play at an end fixing 004 Offside front lower axel swivel joint has excessive play in a ball joint 005 Nearside rear upper (void) trailing arm rubber bush bonding deteriorated resulting in excessive movement 006 Nearside fron headlamp not in good working order adversely affecting beam image 007 Nearside front headlamp aim not tested 008 Exhaust emmisions carbon content excessive ahem.... Right, i'm assuming "004 Offside front lower axel swivel joint has excessive play in a ball joint" means trackrod ends? This one im not to sure on "003 Nearside front (bush) torsion bar excessive play at an end fixing" or is this one the track rod ends and the one above a ludicrously difficult job? Grrrr. Gonna do a full polybush job, replacing the lot, may as well get two trackrod ends, a pair of halogen lamps and obviously a tyre and a wid down of the old carb coz it is running very rich my mates say you can smell the petrol when they follow. Have i misinterpreted anything in the list? Cheers guys

should be saved its better than mine!! If not, I WANT THAT INTERIOR!!!
-
ahh feck, thats not very good. Shouldnt think it'll be a wrght off though those three doors are startin to fetch top money... Hope its alright for u mate

Anyone know how to find if my xpack capri is genuine?
Daveyboy20 replied to stephens_xpack's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
Does it have 'ford motorsport' stamp on the wings somewhere? i think thats a sign its genuine although ive never had one unfortunately! It would have a rubber rear spoiler too as opposed to a fibreglass copy i thnk -
It didnt fail on rust but it does have some, round the filler neck in the boot is just not there anymore and top of the inner wings but its all far enough away from suspension mounts i guess. Wouldnt weigh it in im just a bit gutted like! Im skint!! Cheers for all the advice "I've got a cortina void bush removal tool if you need it fella! Its basically a big steel cup with a threaded bar through it. I can most prob get you a set of polybushes on the cheap too!" Dav3yC, how much could you get me a set of polys for? sounds good bout borrowin the tool for the void bushes! MK5, what are the 18mm ones? are they off a v6 one or something? Ill have to check it in the next couple of days. I would book it in to the garage but i can imagine it'd cost a fortune for that sort of work, just gonna have a crack myself over the next few weeks. Dav3yC, dependin on how much the polys would be i suppose, while i have my optimistic head on if i did all the bushes i could take all the arms and so on off and the diff and get the hammerite and wire brush and spruce it up... Who knows, for now its on my drive though till i can raise the cash! maybe sell some Capri spares ive got a garage full! Cheers for the advice everyone!

Just got back from Monaco with two of my mates and their pair of Nissan 300zx Z32. Feckin fast as fook i had a go of both, we were racing brand new M3's and battering them! I think they are a bout 295bhp 0-60 in 5.2 seconds and weigh about 1 and a half tonnes!!
-
Just spattered next doors house with rubber, thought if he's failed on the tyre when theres still half a mm before the wear indicators i may as well give the tyres reason to be changed. He reckons all in all it shouldnt cost too much but i beg to differ. To be fair its not all the bushes on reading the sheet its an offside ball joint nearside antiroll bar bush and offside void bush. also needs emissions dropping and a tyre (possible 2 now). He reckons you can get halogen bulbs with the old style fitment which would more than likely solve the headlight problem but feck knows where from. I cant remember if thats it but i think its most of it.
-
no the fella said he couldnbt do the aim bedcause the image was low?? I dont see why i can't do the bushes myself any ideas? what do people think of these? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Polyurethane-Bush ... dZViewItem
-
Yeah theres loads but i dont see the point in replacing them with shit rubber ones again. how much do you get for weighing a cortina in for scrap these days?
-
Mk5 Cortina failed on countless front bushes and rear void bushes, low headlamp 'image' whatever that is, tyre, ball joints, emmisions and other things i havent picked it up yet its still at the garage cant remember the rest. Anyway, How much is a full set of polybushes and is it relatively easy to do? i remember the capri was a pain in the arse. any advise pretty gutted, im gonna do a feck off burnout out of the garage make myself feel better...
-
Couldnt make it fellas the Cortina ran outta Tax at the end of June, one day to early! Its currently getting MOT'd now, or should i say failed.. Sorry i couldnt make it, my mate rang me said he went passed and it was a really good turnout so nice one chaps
-
She nearly ate her own flaps when we went camping in the Lake district, it had so much stuff in when i reversed up a small kerb to park it nearly ripped the flaps off and spat em out the front. Dirty Tina....
-
Bugger... Widened our drive the other week so the slopey bit on the pavement doesnt go all the way across, reversed up the drive last night and the front offside wheel snapped the mudflap in two! Original 25 year old flaps!! B U G G E R..... I hear the flapless look is in this season anywho...

viewing laid up capri . with pictures an a verdict
Daveyboy20 replied to xpackken's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
You might have to crack the clutch off they sometimes stick after being laid up, good luck mate -
That Capri looks awesome mate do it. I was thinkin of bubblin my mk3 below instead of the tarmacs but i reckon the bubbles suit the mk1s lines more, it actually mooks like it flexing muscles out of the swage line!
