  2. Ah right it see! Is there anyway of compressing it at all? Ill just make another one later or tomorrow if not, a bit shorter perhaps!
  3. It is a turbo tail off a capri i thik, it looks really good, i never thought about that sort of spoiler on an escort did it go straight on?
  4. Cheers dude, i might give you a knock if i get stuck again! Hopefully today will be a bit more straighforward now ive got all the bushes out and everythings painted up We'll see eh?! Cheers for the advice everyone, is the heaavy duty axel a mk5 standard thing or just the v6?
  5. Its not the actual bush thats got the D shape its the flange (bushes and flanges eh? ) you can see on the pics on the other page i think
  6. Just done a little vid on the digital camera and its picked it up well but i cant put it up. Its 40 MB, I tried to put it on photobucket but it never got past the 0% uploaded screen! Ill try again...
  7. Cheers mate, Im a bit confused now (again!) There are 4 bushes in the arms obviously one at each end how come on the pic there appear to be three bushes for each? Ill be putting it all back together tomorrow. Whats H/D axel, am i being daft?
  8. Lookin good mate, exhaust looks spot on 2 nice one!!
  9. Are the springs moving with the axel or staying put? are all the U bolts the hold the spring to the axel in good nick?
  10. King ace mate! Soon as i get me a house im stickin one of those in!! Might have to make it out of somethin slightly less exotic thoug, was that car rear ended? coz it looks mint! That is one BBQ that could win 1st place in a concours comp
  11. If you make sure they're properly rivetted or bolted in place and they wont move much and then spend a while with some filler smoothing them in they will look absolutly awesome, especially with some fat wheels like minilghts or een slotties to fill em
  12. Nice I cocked mine up on the Capri a bit, the wipers seem to want to take the letters off but nevermind! Im gona order one for Tina i think.
  13. I went out and worked it out in the rain! Jobs a goodun all the bushes are out - thing is, none of them seeed emotedly damaged? am i missing something or did the MOT tester see me coming and remember what he used to fail Cortinas on?? Anyway, i dont care because its gonna handle so much better with these solid polys, managed to pant the arms and the ARB and my drums between showers, just gotta wait till tomorrow for everything to dry and i can whack it back together, cant wait!! Cheers for the help everyone
  14. Well, just done it and it sounds feckin great! Havent got it warm or under an load yet as ive only started it on the axel stands but just revvin it it snarls when you let off the pedal, you know that rooooAAAARRR- GAAAhhhhhhhh noise you get! Im chuffed! He hasnt made me the fulllength of pipe yet im using the 10 inch smaple he gave me which doesnt quite come out under the valance but it'll sound the same. Great! oh yeah CopeyCapri, Ive got a 4 branch on my Capri but it cost nearly £100 and itt match up to he standard system as its a lot longer than the original manifold so if i was spending money on manifolds i may as well buy an ashley sytem and i can5 afford it at the mo! Made up with this one though its gonna look and sound ifferent to most so im pleased My guess is that with a bit of heat and a bit of load say in second as you say it'll pop and crackle judgin by the noise
  15. Right, its all off, springs, arms and ARB. gonna paint them all up in a bit while they're off, do you reckon theres any point in paintin the springs? i was thinkin i might just sand em off and paint em red but then will it all just flake off with the movement? Im using hammerite. I got a void bush removin tool but i have no idea how to use it! Ive only got one of the bushes out (the nearside lower one) so i need to use it on the other three - any one know how? Heres a pic of it
  16. Just got a mint rebuilt 'no fear' mountain bike off ebay - £6.70! It was only a few roads away as well, wel chuffed!! But as you say, might have to wait till the winter to use it
  17. Sound! Right its coming off today then and my buddy is gonna have to get busy with his pipe bending skills!! Its a shame the pinto manifolds are so shite really as that'll be holdin it back a bit, looks like it was made with a hammer and chisel! What sort of noise do you think it'd make? it'll be a totally standard exhaust except the backbox will be replaced by an aluminium pipe - do you reckon ill get any pops and bangs on the overrun? Its a 1.6 pinto with a 2 litre carb and k and n filter
  18. I always thought that you needed back pressure, so its actually better to have no boxes at all then? Cool, well jobs a goodun then im gonna make up a cardboard template tomorrow and get it sorted! I heard you lose torque though is that a myth? Oh and yeah i do tend to drive with a degree of 'enthusiasm' every now and then!
  19. My backbox is fecked on the MK5 Tina, my mate can knock up aluminium pipe for me in any shape so im thinking of grinding the box off completely and just putting the pipe on for some tasty noise - thinkg is, will the heat adversely affect the pipe, and will the loss of backpressure be bad for the engine or will i just lose a bit of torque? Would there be anyway round it like maybe tacking something inside the pipe like some sort of washer? Ideas?
  20. Cheers dude, I havent got very far with the rears yet im gonna carry on tomorrow i need to try and get both sides on the axel stands so that i can jack up the diff and undo the shocks to drop the top of the arms off so thats my first job tomorrow, then i need to get the offside void bush out so out with the lump hammer and chisel again! Hopefully this time tomorow night ill have them done, or is that just wishful thinking?
  21. Well on the whole they've been great, and the front end already feels ten times better, i did have to shave a lot off the big steering rack D bush though before it would go on properly but apart from that id recommend them
  22. Cheers mate! Im not sure how much exactly they were you'd have to PM DaveyC he sorted it all for me, they are from Deflex though i think or at least the company they became after going broke!
