My Mk5 Cortina Crusader estate is now 41 years old, so do not have to pay road tax any more, all the .Gov info says take the reminder and your form V11 to the post office and they will send it off for status change, not so according to the post office counter staff!I think this is a recent change, has anybody had this problem?

I will keep my 10 year old X3, not too much computerie stuff and does what it says on the tin, high milage though, up to 20,300 ish now.........😄
-
In my early cars a heater was an option and a luxury...........
-
I've had a Gunson easybleed kit for 20 years or so now, works well on the Cortina as there are a few places where the air is hard to bleed through, but the tyre pressure soon shifts it!
-
Thank.s Scott, I've been looking to find one for a while now, I replaced the Capri slipper diff as it was clonking when the drive was taken up due to being totally worn out inside, with a Blackline gear one which works well, but the Fostec half shafts have wear on the splines so they need to be replaced, not readily available for Mk3 Cortinas so I need one or a pair to use as a pattern to get them made, I think the drag racing wore it all out! I will let you know the outcome.

I'm looking for a half shaft for a Mk4/5 2.0 Cortina, condition not important as it's to use as a pattern to get a new pair made, the overall length is the important bit so it would need to be in one bit!
-
We visited the windmill museam in Kinderdijik-Den Elshout as part of the Cortinas to Cortinina de Ampezzo tour in September, very impressive! not many windmills in Devon!
-
Tour of the Moor would be the obvious choice for me, the 'classic' cars are getting more modern at every show........ pluss 2 hours to escape!
-
No not recreational! my Capri slipper diff was getting noisey and clunked when changing from overun to power, the same one that was used for a few years at the Pod - not done too badly, so Iv'e replaced it with a Blackline helical gear lsd, direct replacement and no problems changing it, seem's to be good so far but I need to do some long runs to bed it in, makes an easy fix for not too much money....🙂

My co-pilot and I will be up for this!

This trip was the third one I've been on, the first in 2002 was with the Mk3 - 1700 cross flow, 2012 we did in my Mk5 Crusader estate and this one back to my Mk3 but with the 2900 V6 fitted, very good for the Autobahns!

I have just got back from a road trip attached to the Cortina Mk2 club, from the Harwich ferry to Hook of Holland, Nijmegen, cologne, Speyer, Mittenwald, Cortina de Ampezzo, Riva Del Garda - lake Garda, Turin, Evia ies Bains - Lake Geneva, Dijon, Chalons-en-Champagne, then to Calias ferry and home, a 17 day tour and around 3,000 miles door to door, all the cars that started the trip got back with a few repairs here and there! this was my third Cortina de Ampezzo road trip, its evey 10 years to celebrate the launch of the Mk1 Cortina in 1962 which was driven down one of the ski runs, top trip!

Problem sorted, Ive had the discs skimmed which took the warp out, but for the future I have a new pair on back order from Rally Design which I now remember is where I got the current ones from, saves buying a complete new set up with calipers! besides I like the Princess ones!
-
I'm looking for a pair of 257mm diameter vented brake brake discs to fit my Mk3 Cortina fitted with Princess 4 pot spaced calipers, I got the last pair from Rally Design but they wont have stock for at least 8 weeks, I can get the old ones skimmed as they are a bit warped but it's not ideal, any suggestions please?

Good topic! but it frustrates me now though to know how to do most OLD car related things but not physically able to do them, but then it's a case of knowing and finding the right people who do!

There was an interesting article in the Classic Ford mag either in last months or the month before comparing smallish bore Ashley type manifolds with bespoke stainless ones on a dyno, the Ashley type manifolds gave generally the best results! ideal for me as that's what I've got on my tweaked 2.0 Pinto!

Random thought regarding keeping Receipts for car history

Ive got most of the receiepts for my Mk3 Tina, looking back is a bit 'suprising' over the years, I was looking at one recently from JRE Motorsports for rebuilding and stroking the Cossie I had in it, loads of money!
