  1. Goodwood Trackday 25th February 2008 As part of an Isle of Wight Car Club I am holding a Trackday at Goodwood on Monday 25th February. The day was intended to be for club members and close friends but we have failed to get the required people to break even on this event. Basically we need 3 more attendees to make sure we do not fall short, if you are interested then please email me and I can give you more details regarding the day and how to pay etc. The day will be run as a 10 car 98dB semi open pit day and there will be 30 cars in attendance, Total cost is £200. Due to the numbers the day is low volume with masses of tracktime and a great way to enjoy the mighty Goodwood Circuit. email me or pm me. Richard Weaver

  3. i should think so Andy. if my car is working by then...
  4. no point having a museum piece in my book. what makes the car great is the joy derived from driving it. ornaments don't do it for me - sorry.
  5. who is going? i will be there!
  6. Terrorist by Renegade - from one Junglist to another - you bad bwoy.
  7. I am building a car (see restorations) mk 1 rs2000 for historic rallys. not competed yet, but got my competition license and just need the car!
  8. which are the proper lightweigh alloy wheels, as used in competition by the works teams?
  9. whats the budget?
  10. I was trying to avoid the "No tax" situation at the time also, hence i was not too mouthy....
  11. i think a trailer and a towing vehicle is the way forward. i have a trailer and whislt currently using a vauxhall omega estate, i intend to buy either a toyota land cruiser, mirtsubishi pajero/shogun or an isuzu big horn/citation.
  12. my car is at Gartrac and is having turreted rear end with slippers.
  13. I have an asbo until a few days before xmas. i was reported to have been going sideways in my mk1 rs2000 - which i was . i did not admit it, but with the powers they have, my arguement fell flat. anyway, i have been driving sideways ever since in my nissan 200sx and not fallen foul of the law. god knows how, but there you go.
  14. SAS built an engine for my friends evo 4. it was an all steel affair. never the less it detonated so badly from their setup, that the engine destroyed itself. he then used another tuner and had another engine built, this time satisfactorily. he had awful trouble with SAS. you could of course go to power engineering in Uxbridge, they have a great deal of experience with ford engines and are well reknowned throughout the ford and japanese tuning circles.
  15. http://www.geocities.com/hearse78/granada.htm#engl1 ours was identical to this.
  16. Our Family has run a funeral firm for years. we had a granada hearse up until about ten years ago. it was older than the ones you show. i had a V8 iirc (Rover) and we had a limo to match. we scrapped them when the became unviable to run.
  17. i want to do this rally some when - its got a timetable that is proper old skool - a true 3 day event!
  18. they will be going well. Terry Brown has an ex-mikkola works car he uses iirc! and he dont hang about in it neither - purists look away now!
  19. this isinteresting , as i asked a similar question regards my ex-haynes mk1 rs2000 grp1 car. i am grp4 preparing the car for historic stage rallying. i think it adds an interesting piece of history to its story. regards rs1800 - they were built with intention of rallying - i would have no qualms about piling a mint rs1800 mk2 down a stage. my car will probably owe me 25k when its done - but its going to get driven hard.,
  20. you can get a great deal of feed back through the old "arse" dyno! it actually indicates what is happening in the real world, not the meaningless, number chasing world! :l:
  21. lol - i have not competed in my car yet - its been bought and is undergoing resto as we speak. it would not have been me at santa pod, although i have been several times, but in my previous jap cars - subaru impreza and evo. however, i auto test with my local club and am currently leading class1 in the championship. I attend trackdays as often as possible. off to Bedford on 2nd December with my 200sx and Anna, my G/F is bringing her Supra. ran Annas supra round sundays autotest, organised by my local car club, suprisingly nimble despite is proportions - smoked rubber rather well to
  22. glad you agree Gareth! i know too many people who fret about the power their car is or is not producing. they never use the thing as it should be used. classic example is a nipper ona local forum i mod on. he is a cracking lad, dont get me wrong, but he owns two cars. a fantastic little crx and a rare as rocking horse shit older shape type r civic. now IGNORE the marques and think of this: he has two quick cars, that handle great, and have been modified sensibly, but he is hell bent on "mintifying" the crx and cosseting the civic. i ask why? he refuse to come on trackdays - including Bedford, which lets face it, has fuckall that you can hit if you spin and wont even indulge in autotests organised by the local club - which are brilliant fun.. he raves about this car and that car, that he has "wasted" up the duel carrigeway. he spends £700 quid (yes 700) on an exhaust manifold for his crx, which is on the garage in bits. he lives at home with his parents, hence he can afford all of this shit. i just don't see the point, this manifold will net him 5 bhp on a good day, oh but apparently "its lightweight" - so what!? it makes no diference in the stark reality which is the non-competitive public roads. he could be enjoying his car at about 3 trackdays for that money. make no mistake, he likes to drive fast. in a mintue the government will stop us enjoying motoring altogether, so get out there and have it to the max whilst you still can! the point i am making, is that to much is made of bhp figures and all that old swank, and not enough time is spent using the friggin cars that are at the disposal of so-called enthusiasts. some people need to get a King life!
