  1. Love the car, love those choice of words too ^^
  2. yeh i used a big wire wheel on a angle grinder, takes it straight off to clean metal, you do get bits of wire flyin off now and again tho stabbing u in various places!
  3. i heard somewhere that the 1600's have valve geometry issues?
  4. never trust full 12months MOT its too easy to get a bent one... trust me
  5. what he said
  6. How'd ya like this one sonny, for your dinky toy collection!
  7. yep i was half way round a roundabout once mid sideways, cop car approaches the roundabout from the exit i just went sideways past, pulls me over and told me to put my seatbelt on! o and also, you know those plastic police, well on my way home once i was mid sideways up a hill, a lone ranger plastic steps into the road with his hand in front of him trying to make me stop. bearing in mind i already had 3 points on my license still in my probation and i had 5mins ago done a burnout and smoothed off a rear tyre... basically i kept it planted and he jumped out the way and i carried on my journey home.
  8. one thing less to worry about???? if its a standard xflow or pinto, there is nothing to worry about!
  9. id just whip the prop off and check for play in the joints, not a big job.
  10. well all of a sudden i get one jolt, the revs dont really drop but it just goes all lumpy, only happens on tick over and the gauge goes weird at same time. its a fairly new battery aswell, new fan belt and i tested alternator earlier and its kicking out 14.7volts, hits 15volts if i rev it. i havent heard the fan come on atall, im thinking it may be a ceased fan, it tries to cut in but cant spin the motor so its even more drain than normal. doesnt overheat tho highest it goes it just over the middle and thats when it happens, when the fan is supposed to come on i guess!
  11. cheers peeps, does sound like it makes sense. the temp gauge goes up and down too fast for it to actually be changing temp like that i think, unless the stat is letting a bit of absolutely boiling water thru every now and again, but it wouldnt make the engine almost cut out i dont think... i will stick a little temp bypass wire in the fan switch plug and watch the temp gauge see what happens. thanks for your help
  12. i know its not OSF but i could use a bit of help... i got a Y plate (2001) Escort van, 1.8 ENDURA DE (non turbo). all is fine until i leave it ticking over in traffic then the engine sort of judders and the temp gauge decides to randomly flicker around in the top half of the gauge. if i rev the engine fairly hard it will sort it for a couple of mins and then the problem comes back.. sorry its off topic but just need a couple of opinions thanks
  13. is it just me or is one of the back wheels not on the floor, and the front one on the same side is just about touching the floor with the sidewall! how much neggy camber do you want! still fair play for doing 150mph with only 2 and a bit wheels on the tarmac
  14. i would say by the condition of the engine bay etc that its genuine (or not far off) mileage... looks too clean to be in the 6 digits... not too sure on the cabaret as ive never even seen one in the flesh, not even at a show, but the L and the laser have a few differences rear boot spoiler, chrome door locks seperate from handles, interior, Laser alloys instead of steels, side repeaters in front wings, adjustable color coded drivers wing mirror, think thats about it, 1 or 2 things i probably forgot tho... nice lookin capper hope it goes ok 4 ya
  15. lol which is why my rear light cluster on the capri melted and almost caught alight once, luckily i smelt it burning pulled over and ripped the fuse out (which was extremely hot but hadnt blown!) luckily i caught it when i did and i had a spare back light
  16. if the fusebox is the same design as a mk3 capri and sits on top of the inner wing at the back and has wires going down underneath it behind the dash, this is where i had several wires melted together causing all sorts of lighting problems
  17. my 86 2.0 laser was rotten as a pair, and so was the 86 2.8i i had... oh yea and see that ebay link to the brookie capri, the very last pic is showing a rotten bit of metal that i didnt think was actually a standard panel on capri's? the bit that stops all the shite getting up behind the wing? neither of my capri's had this... just a big hole
  18. i was driving an M reg alfa 155 1.8 Tspark before, caught alight on me out of the blue, melted all the wiring under the bonet, just managed to put it out in time to rescue it, redone all the wiring, fired it up again with a gang of us there with fire extinguishers, up it went again in seconds. traced it down to a tiny crack in a "factory" hairpin bend in the rubber fuel line dripping directly into the alternator! oh yeh forgot to mention, the car was on its way back from passing an MOT when this happened! i always wonder how many alfa 155's have gone up in this fashion lol!
  19. 1: MK3 Capri 2: BMW E36 M3 3: Engine, Box, rear axle, suspension, Brakes basically everything but the shell. 4: with a lot of hard work 5: cuz i love capri's and i love the M power Straight 6's, go like fook and sound the tits. 6: somewhere between 200-300bhp, nice sound, PAS, big brakes, sportier suspension, Xpacked, Black, Escort cossie wheels sticking right out. that right there is my dream car and its do-able with a lot of effort
  20. lol so u will be taking the bonet off then! they weigh a ton! also, not talking from experience here as ive never done it, but a couple of old 7J 2.8 rims with 205/60's on the back i recon would help rather than the old 185/70's! i have to say i wasnt to keen on the idea of a zetec in a capper cakeman, but now i would have one myself, it must weigh half a pinto!
  21. nothing wrong with a bit of improvisation
  22. im sure i spotted sambo's gold and red mk1 escort once or twice in top gear earlier hidin in the background
  23. I am enjoying staring at that
  24. 100e wud b kool... what about a mk3 tina v8? i think tht wud be nice. there was a yellow mk4 in dagenham essex, chromed up rover v8, nice shiny paint job all smoothed over etc
  25. pretty sure that mk1 golf lights go on mk1 fezza's and become xr2's lol Oh yeah and i also thought i read that E36 ones fit aswell as E30's and they HID approved if u need it
