  1. I find the 'all guns blazing' technique is quite finite, you either get kicked in the nuts, or laid, either way you get a result of sorts!
  2. Poor bastard, you must shag her immediately
  3. Ah dude, don't tell us you're in the 'friend zone' ?! As that'd just be shit.
  4. I'm selling the engine now to make way for the new Harris engine see link below for details http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=55523&highlight=
  5. Fitted the 48's today, got it running ok, however I think the carbs are too big for the current engine really, too much for it, and I also think I need a bigger capacity/pressure fuel pump too as when I give it a thrash, after about 2 mins it starts labouring and not wanting to rev, so slow it back down, let the floats fill again, then it's revving well again. Will have a better look when me and the bro have more time, might just need to wind out the screw on the regulator, or buy a bigger pump. Went over to Gary tonight at Retro Motorsport too and he welded all my seat mounts in, so got the corbeaus in finally! (pics to follow) They're awesome, and has actually transformed the way the car feels to drive even, which I didn't think would be such a big difference, but I was very wrong. Just need to get the new engine build started now as well as a few other jobs, but it's really coming along nicely now.
  6. It has been confirmed, it was Colin and his Son, RIP Colin http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/more_sport/article2461339.ece[/url]
  7. Should indeed mate, going to pick those up tomorrow Twin Dellorto 48's on their way from the Squires at R.A.C.E, can't wait to get those babies on the engine!
  8. Finally got to the bottom of the piss poor idle. It was the idle screws. Whoever set them up to begin with wound them in WAY too tight, and broke the tips off in the holes, we got those out, put the screws back in, put it all back together, and hey presto, she idles like a dream! So chuffed. Onto the next bits now, suspension, and discs/pads.
  9. Cheers Ian Still can't get the bloody thing to idle though, starting to get quite annoying now, I think a trip to Southern Carbs might be in order. I had a brief chat with them this morning about it, and they can't really give me any sort of diagnosis over the phone. I think I'm going to SORN the car, get some money back from the tax (and put it towards the tune session at southern carbs) and then just start taking it to bits to build the new engine. I want to get the carbs setup properly on this engine first however so i don't have to muck about with the new one.
  10. Thanks guys, it does look the sex! Cheers Tim! I got emailed those last week, was very weird to look at her in original trim. Nice to know it's been loved before however.
  11. THE AWFUL STICKERS ARE GONE!!!! WOOHOO!!!! Here's some pics below of what she looks like now. SOOOO much better!!
  12. Good work mate! Hope it goes well!
  13. What a let down, maybe people will be more interested if we make it for summertime next year. Shame though, the last one was a right blast!!
  14. No I guess not mate, well if it does bomb, then might as well use the cheque I sent for the crimbo party instead.
  15. That would suck balls if it doesn't happen
  16. Ah, crapola! If it's all day then I wont be able to do it, I have fooook all holiday left for this year however if it's november then the weather is likely to be cack!
  17. Colin already has my deposit looking forward to this
  18. I could well be persuaded to attend this event BTW Mate, how come the Karting thread is now locked? Right, I've booked a room in the B&B, so I'll definitely be going to this. Colin do you still have my cheque for the karting? If that has indeed been cancelled now?
  19. MUM!!!! I ERRRRR.......
  20. This is me with my bro (I'm on the left) post Tunnocks Teacake eating comp at last year's Tour of Mull. Now that was a laugh. The winner ate 24 teacakes in 4 minutes, then drank a small bottle of irn bru, I wained at 14, respect to that man!
  21. I say do a mail shot around all the local garages in your area, literally anywhere that you can think of. Look into apprenticeships, they're the best way to go, you get paid to learn, what more could you want? Don't settle for anything dude, seek your future!!
  22. Much more scope for porting etc too, as you can make the inlet ports fookin huge! Ron Harris always uses the injection heads to modify. A Piper BP285 or Kent FR32 should certainly do the trick, and coupled with a nice ashley exhaust, and some twin 45's, you could be looking at about 140bhp I reckon. If you can, take off all the sharp edges, and the lumpy bits in the ports too, taking care however to avoid the valve guide, and make sure you take all the valves etc out first. This should make the air flow a bit nicer as well then.
  23. Yeah, they are the wrong sides effectively, but with twin cam engines you can actually time them to draw from left to right, or vice versa.
  24. It could still be a pinto block, if you notice the dizzie is a remote item powered from the cam pulley, the original position for the dizzie is being utilised by the dry sump pump, which is also where the standard pump is driven from in the pinto originally as it's all driven off the auxiliary pulley there.
  25. Bloody good website that! Nice to know that you can still buy the princess calipers too! You're right though, there are significant differences there, however there isn't any reason why they can't be modified to fit an escort, would take some work however.
