I only paid £130 for my forged steel Cossie rods, for the little bit extra it might be worth looking out for set of those? I got mine on ebay. Only difference is that the rod length is slightly longer however, so this will probably mean different pistons. I bought forged ones myself anyway, due to the compression I'm going to be running, and the revs.

Old Skool Ford Go Karting Challenge! **UPDATE 8th AUG**
cossieglen replied to BaileyMex's topic in CHIT CHAT
Is it definitely the Sandown venue then Colin? Is there a website for said track we can peruse? Cheque written and in envelope, will post tomorrow. -
Slightly off topic but what does something like this cost to buy please? Cheers Jon All told, including everything, (Pistons, cam, head, rods, crank, block, clutch, flywheel, exhaust) it's costing me in the region of £3000, building the engine myself just buying the bits. It could cost more, it could cost less, all depends on what parts you buy for it really, and one factor is how much you get the crank and rods for, and the block etc, as these will come second hand. If you want to know more mate, feel free to PM me. Sorry for the quick hijack BIG G.

2.1 with a Harris head and cosworth bottom end Well I'm a bit biased as that's what I'm building, but Ron Harris assures me it's going to be good for 180-190bhp and 8,250rpm

Superb pics! Watch out though, there will be a pair of 'nutters' on the track next year when I join my bro

Ends should be the same yeah, but as peeps said before they get close to the manifold and melt the inner core and stop working! I always used the standard one however, and just heat wrapped it. -

Yeah, I used to use a standard clutch on my old 150 spec engine, and in fact I think the current one in my car which is about 140-150 is just standard item. You might need to replace the friction plate a little more often, but wont need heavy duty until you're heading for 200hp -

That looks awesome Al!! Some cracking pics there. Looks like Scrote was having some rear end 'issues' lol, man I bet it was immense fun though! Did you toast the jap crap? -

No mate, sadly not, but they do just about everything else. Are you after a heavy duty clutch though? http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/catalog/index.php -

Yeah, was going to suggest rallydesign myself, all can be ordered online too, and are generally very reasonably priced. -
Cheers fella, nice of you to say

I owned an Astra GTE16v once, great engine, rest of the car sucked balls. My mum owned a Sintra too........ nuff said It's a shame they have to be so anal about it all, sounds like they can't take a bit of constructive abuse. I'd say just avoid the forum, if you're not comfortable there, and they're not willing to accept the person you are. There are probs more places you can discuss the same things. Plus the people over here are a lot nicer it seems.

Went to Corbeau, and found the right seats for me, just got to part with best part of £600 now Then just left to get is a new 9 bolt flywheel, Helix clutch kit, and source a 205 block to build the short engine up out of the car, then I'm on my way to more horsepower Oh, and I also need to send my dizzy off to Aldon to be modified, and have their ignitor kit installed to replace the lumenition on the car, which I think is what might be causing the rough running.

Old Skool Ford Go Karting Challenge! **UPDATE 8th AUG**
cossieglen replied to BaileyMex's topic in CHIT CHAT
yeah, I agree, team endurance is the way forward -
Cheers chap, yeah was a great day don't you think? Looking forward to seeing your little feature in the mag I'll also tap Matt up to get some Alimax gear Can't wait to get my car to the shows etc, could have brought it Sunday like, but with it not idling at the moment, that would have been a pain in the ass.
-
Well the seats sold at the show on Sunday within 1hr of me putting them on the woodchips at the front of my Bro's car (might have been handy having them next to such a bright coloured motor) Also got some bits from Darran at Escort-Tec, right before a HUGE gust of wind turned their gazebos into kites! So now got myself a mint WCXM, and some door straps and bonnet spring, which were just a couple of missing bits. Also picked up a beautifully made 5 speed rose jointed quickshift from G.S.Escorts, so I'm on the way in earnest now. Ron Harris had also made me a list of the bits I need from him, so going to get on the blower soon and get him to start on the head. Shouldn't be too long until I'm running in a nice 180-190bhp Pinto then which is going to be the hard bit! Maybe I should buy a rev limiter and set it to 3000rpm to stop me from getting carried away!
-
Well I picked her up today, and have already completely fallen in love with the thing! Engine needs some attention, just isn't running nicely at all, but hey, it's a pinto, there's only a few things it could be eh?! Had the cam cover off as one of the followers had wound itself down (no surprise there) and it's running a Piper BP285 cam I know that much, not sure if the head is modified yet, but will probs have that off soon enough if I can't get it running right. Other than that, it's awesome, just need to buy a few bits and it'll be perfect! Ok then, who wants to buy a pair of Corbeau Sprint seats? Barely used, in fantastic condition, £190 each new!! I will get some pics taken and put them in the for sale bit soon, but if anyone wants them brought up for sunday then I can.
