Not if you're using the Silver layout (which I find easier on the eye), but now I've changed to the Black and White it's there). So I'll become "purple" then change back to Silver for the sake of my tired eyeballs.

That's a very good point and even more valid in my case, cripes I just thought, my car is 9 years older than I am...scary thought....
-
Glad to hear it young .. er.. Turnip..
-
Well I'll be blowed (no jokes please) If I can find the "subscription" link anywhere, maybe that's why there aren't many "purple people" No-one can find the link easily....

Isn't it a pity that what might have been the rodders and old skool ford owners of tomorrow have been bought up on a diet of lowered Saxos, Clios and Golfs! They are truly missing the point IMHO. What has bought this on? Well when I collected my Pop yesterday, I was driving along with a huge grin on my face (as we all do when getting a new toy) and I was stuck in a little traffic jam, and it was "school out" time, and as I sat there beaming from ear to ear, I heard someone shout "oi, look it's ChittyChitty BangBang" I was not amused, and ignored the comment (although it has given me a great idea for a rear window "legend") I then thought about the comment some more and came to the realisation that we, as in, the "Old Skool" (both Rods, Customs and of course Fords) are probably the last generation (with the exception of some of the younger drivers on this very forum) to truly appreciate cars like rodded Pops, Mk1 Cortinas, Escorts, Capris and Anglias etc and not just look at them as "old cars" like the school kids of today do. I'd be interested to hear what you guys think about this statement, whether you think it true or false. Discuss (...er if you want)

Hi Thanks for the replies, it seems the prop is the vibration culprit, or at least that's what most people seem to think, that I've spoken to today. So I'll contact the Prop Shaft people who advertise on the forum and ask 'em what's best to do. can anyone tell me where I can get GLASS windows for the car, I've got door glass, but the back windows (not the rear window) are perspex and scratched to death, they look sh**! Or is it a case of getting some professionally made/cut?

Finally picked up my Pop and drove it all the way back from Swindon no problem at all, 204 miles on £30, whch ain't bad for a Rover V8. Only problem it seems to have is that the entire car vibrates when running under accleration and normal driving, it feels like the Propshaft might not be balanced as I've experienced this before, what's the best way to find out if this is the case? Will post some pics once I've got the "Fly Graveyard" off the Grill and Windscreen

I remember when you could buy (or make) a thing known as banded wheels, which were just steel wheels which had had a band of steel added to make them wider, I think they were either illegal or at best dangerous...however that was 25 odd years ago, is there now technology to do this legally and safely? I do not need to widen wheels though I need to make some old racing wheels narrower, I bought these wheels at a show and they need full refurbishment, but they are alloy spokes with a steel rim, is there anyway of successfully getting them narrowed. (This might seem like a stupid question, but if I'd have said in 1977 that you'd be able to watch videos on a device in your pocket in 30 years from now, people would have thought I was stupid ) Cheers

many moons ago, when I had my Mk2 Consul with Rover V8, I got stopped by the plod and they looked over the car very carefully, under the bonnet and everything, I thought "any minute now they are gonna find something" but they didn't, not even the GAPING HOLE where the (at the time) non existent FIREWALL should have been! I couldn't believe it.

nice paint job...or is that just "the icing on the cake" *groan*

My Mitsi has now been S.O.R.N'ed and shoved in the Garage to await my Bro In Law coming back from his "Tour" of Afghanistan whereupon it will be gone forever!! So next week I'm picking up my Pop and I can't wait! Got big plans for it, including removal of the Rover V8 (which will be for sale) and replacing it with a Ford 289 or 302ci V8 (well I intend to drag race this thing and 160BHP Rover V8 just doesn't cut the mustard does it!?) Pop Browns new Five Stud Conversion for the HA Viva front end is another mod I have in mind along with matching wheels (it's got a mixture of Wolfies and Appliance 5 Spokes on it at the moment) and I'm after either American Racing 5 Spokes or Centrelines + a new interior, and thats about it. It's already got a roll cage in situ as it was once a race car alledgedly. If any North West Area OSF's are at a loose end this weekend, the Guzzlers Kar Klub are having their annual bash in Towyn, North Wales, all welcome. Once Pop is in my possesion I'll post some more pics. C ya P.S N.A.S.C Nats Videos are now on edturners.tv and there's quite a few OSF's in there ( I wonder why? )

Got a Video Podcast up on myEd Turners Podcast Site as well as the usual yanks and rods there are a few Old Skool Fords in there too. The Quicktime and Windows Media Vids will be up on the main site later + coming soon some original footage from the East Africn Safari Rally circa 1970 with some great escort mexicos etc. Will post once I've got it sorted. ttfn

Awww shucks! I love you guys! I'm chuffed to ****! Gotta get off to work now though

After a couple of false starts I finally have my OSF (or at least I have paid the deposit and will actually have it at the weekend.) It's a '53 Sit Up n Beg Pop with Rover V8 and Jag IRS, I'm chuffed with it as I nearly bought a Pop 18 years ago and didn't and it's always niggled me since and been at the back of my mind to get another. However I was thinking today, is it really an OSF or not? I mean yeah it's a Ford, and yeah its Old, and it currently has a very 70's-80's feel to the interior...BUT does the fact it has a R*ver V8 as opposed to a Small Block Ford V8 or Cossie/Pinto/Zetec etc lump mean that in essence it isn't actually an OSF? I hope it is as I have this forums friendly members and enthusiasm to thank for rekindling my dormant (but always there) interest in old Ford motors, and I don't wanna be a fraud Here it is: Immediate plans inlude matching wheels and a new interior.
