sounds like your registry is corrupted to me, in Win 98, the Registry was pretty easy to edit, but I've never edited an XP or Vista Registry Entry so can't shed much light, however if it is a registry problem it may be as simple as finding out (from the computer/DVD Drive manufacturer) what the regisrty entry should be and see if yours matches. If it doesn't you'll need to edit the regisrty entry by hand. have you checked to see if the DVD Drive is listed in the Devices in Set Up when you boot up?

well it's funny you should say that, she is predominantly a Fast Car Magazine Model...so you might be right Think I may take a slightly different route in future...

No Notification of Post Replies but Notification of PM's???
thelastbandit replied to thelastbandit's topic in SUPPORT DESK
Oh, so it's a bugbear for everyone then. Pity. It's a bit of a nightmare trying to remember where you posted all the time....ah well, that's life I 'spose -
I've been mulling over this all day and reading your comments to, I appreciate you all taking the time to help me with my dilemna! I talked it over with the missus too and she thinks also that I should forget the van and buy a runner (if I can find one that is), so I guess that's what I'm gonna have to do, much as it breaks my heart. So I'm reverting to the original plan and getting shot of my jap import and buying a decent early ford of some description that is already running and could maybe do with a paint job and a tune up/mild transplant. So if you hear of anything going in the way of an 105E Anglia, Mk1 Cortina or Sit Up n Beg Pop, please let me know. Whatever I end up with it's gonna be old skool

I know this one has come up before but I'm not getting notifications of replies to my posts, BUT the strange thing is, I am getting notifications of New PMs? How weird is that? Could it be my email address? or maybe a permissions problem with one of the forum files? Is it only a few that have the problem or lots? is it specific email providers, AOL, Hotmail, .MAC etc? Being a "geek" I'd like to help out if possible...
-
I know what you mean, and it's not negative, it's realistic! I'm not bothered about making money on it, as once I've done whatever I end up doing, it's done and I'm gonna just enjoy it long term! I'm sure my budget would cover everything on the car bar some bits and pieces, but the question of how long to complete is another one that needs an answer.

Thanks guys keep the comments coming please. Something else that has just occured to me is that in my heart of hearts a 300E is not really what I want, I mean I saw it and thought , interesting and rare but not something I REALLY, REALLY want. My ideal car would be either a Sit Up N Beg Pop with Pinto or similar or a 2 Door Mk1 Cortina standard or modified. I'm in a quandry now

I'm getting cold feet regarding the 300E van I've bought, and I need you guys to help me decide what to do. Here's some info about me to help you help me. 1. I'm crap at D.I.Y both in the home and on cars. I'm a computer/video geek and can do virtually anything on a PC/Mac, but anything involving Screwdrivers and other tools usually ends in me being stressed out of my tree and ultimately a trip down the scrap yard! 2. I'm also a confirmed Petrol Head in as much as I love cars and have owned a hell of a lot of them over the years. 3. I'm wondering if I've maybe bitten off more than I can chew with the 300E budget-wise as my budget is £4000 to buy the car (£1000 including a 100E Parts car) and rod/modify it, this may sound a lot, but it's not when you consider that I'll only be doing about 10 -15% of the work on it myself 4.I've looked through some of the mags just lately and have seen quite a few early fords of one type or another, that would cost me the same amount of money (or thereabouts) and I can just drive away. Ok, I know there is more kudos in doing it yourself but there's no point in kidding myself that I can do it if I can't. What do you think? Please post your thoughts and vote in the poll too. (Course if I decide against the 300E it will be available for someone else but don't let that cloud your judgement) Appreciate it guys!

Aha! So it was you in the yellow 'scort! The Track Vid is actually longer than that, but I cut the bits out where nothing but track and Ians face in the rear view mirror were visible, if anyone wants the full vid let me know.
-
Tony's incident is in the video, you must have missed it! It's defo there! The rear view mirror thing is annoying but as you say, we live n learn, next one will be better! Wanna do some at the next DC too at the pod!

I'm looking for a couple of old skool fords for a photo shoot on Friday the 24th of August in the Hertfordshire Area. Your car will be photographed with a professional model (not nude before the whole forum volunteers ) in an outdoor location in Hertfordshire. The featured vehicles will be the first cars to go in a new online Auto Enthusiasts monthly magazine. " Money" will be paid and Hi Res copies of the resultant images will be given F.O.C to the volunteer car owners. If you are interested and are free ALL DAY on Friday the 24th of August please pm me or email me with a single image of your car and I'll be in touch. No offence to anyone but please don't apply with an unfinshed project or work in progress, only finished projects please. Thanks. Ideally I would like a 60's and a 70's Ford. Owners only, no wives, mates, girlfriends or family members. You car will not be driven by anyone but you on the day. I look forward to hearing from some of you in the area.

Too right! S'not about flash paint and shiny wheels, it's about havin' fun wit' your Ford! Video now up at http://www.edturners.tv/video.html

The first Ford Fair Video is now available to download in Quicktime, Windows Media, Podcast and Mobile Phone Video from: 'Ed Turners.TV and if you can't see any of those, I've even uploaded it to You Tube
-
I'm really surprised, and sorry, that so many of you can't see it? It's just a Flash Movie, and the Flash Player comes with XP, and Vista, and even Windows 98SE. Anyway not to worry, the full video of the track action will be available to DOWNLOAD tomorrow as Quicktime or Windows Media, Podcast and Mobile Phone Video. I will post in this section once uploaded. Cheers all
-
Damn, wish I'd got that bit, but I didn't see it, as I was round the corner...
-
Mate, in my book anyone who chooses an old Ford over a new one should be proud of whatever they own, however it's painted! Look at the state of my 300E, it ain't even got paint on it, just lots of dust and surface rust! But I'm still really chuffed with it and PROUD to own it! Enjoy your MK2! P.S If you want the big version of the pic let me know
-
Hi Guys. I'm sorry to say that the Track Video is not as good as I hoped it would be, and it is 100% my fault I'm afraid. However in my defence I'll remind you that it is the first one with my new toy (Roll Bar Bracket) and some adjustments will be needed. It's not terrible, and the problem that I thought might happen hasn't (wobble), the main problem with it, is that the Rear View Mirror obscures quite a lot of the track, next time the roll bar bracket needs to go either to one side, or further back still. Anyway I'll do what I can with it and hope you won't be to critical We all learn from our mistakes, and I've learn't a big one from this vid, the rest is all good though. (But I warn you now, there's a bit of Plastic Fordie in there too) Gotta keep everyone happy. Hoping to have first Video upload by end of day today, if not defo tomorrow. One thing that struck me as quite funny is that you, Ian, look a hell of a lot like Vinnie Jones in your Rear View Mirror, you'll see what I mean when I upload the vid. Tony, I spoke to my bodywork guy re the Project 300E and he's much happier with the Cross member and Mounts as you described them, so good times all round! Cheers.
