  1. There is a silver 2.8 capri in my local Ford showroom. I think it,s only on display though.
  2. Shoudnt take to long hate it when unexpected work comes up. It,ll give me a chance to clean up the engine bay so it,s not all bad.
  3. Pretty much done everything to the Anglia had it running tonight . Some water coming out of waterpump which I knew about and am going to replace , then noticed water coming out at bellhousing, that,ll be the core plug then . Oh well engine out next, buggar
  4. Nearly forgot, if you can find one , the Lancia Dedra is available turbo,ed and then there are the Volumex supercharged engines
  5. Front bowl sump, the oil pump sits in th e sump making it impossible to reverse [unless anyone knows different] The Argenta sump is shallower and wider, this may help clearance issues. Also if you use a Lancia or Regatta oil filter mounting this mounts the oil filter horizontally .
  6. An old trick to raise compression ratio is to fit the domed pistons out of a 1600 twincam ,not sure what ratio this gives, 105tc strada pistons have an even bigger dome, the 1800 head has 43.5mm inlet valves as opposed to 42mm in the two litre . Also the Lancia t/c exhaust manifold has much bigger bores. The oil pump is a high capacity, high volume pump as standard. The engine was designed by Aurelio Lampredi . Before he went to work for Fiat he designed Grand Prix winning Formula 1 engines for Ferrari , says it all really.
  7. I still have a few of these engines about and intend to put a two litre in a mk 2 cortina. I have dug out an old issue of car and car conversions with an article on them . Here are a few facts about them, the block ,due to it,s compact size is very strong, the crank is steel and is tuftrided and crossdrilled. The conrods are also steel, the pistons are adequate for tuning up to 180bhp and will cope with up to 11-1 comp ratio. The cams are high lift but short duration hence the torquey nature. The heads are superbly designed and will cope with 3mm more valve lift also the ports are short with no kinks .By just bolting on a set of twin 40,s properly set up can see an increase of up to 25bhp. My mates and I all ran Supermirafiori twincams years ago . Still got one and a Mirafiorisport
  8. Go for it theres nothing like the sound of 40,s Used to have them on a car few years ago miss that induction roar bad
  9. Don,t know if this will help but I use aerosols for detailing small parts and always have the tins warming in a tub of hot water. This seems to help get a good shine and finish.
  10. I,ve heard that the American pinto engines are front drop but I,ve never seen one. For my mk2 cortina I cut the sump about 1 inch from the mounting flange and fabricated my own sump. As far as cutting the bottom of and turning it around, the sump is a different width at each end so I dont think that would work easily. Fab,ing a sump is probably simpler.
  11. Only 6000 quid bargain I,ll take 2 please..
  12. Reading an article recently about broadspeed anglias and was wondering what ever happened to those cars and what about the engines any ideas anyone
  13. Cant go wrong wih slotmags , look great.
  14. Got the new engine mounts fitted today, old ones were sagging causing the engine to drop. Freed of the front brakes and fitted the bumper brackets for bumperettes I made years ago . I think I will be refitting the grill as well. Wheels are either going to be compomotive 6x13 or Dunlops. I found a bit more rust in the bottom of the passenger side A post as well . I will sort all the mechanicals first then do the welding then tidy up the bodywork. Plan is to be back on road by end of April.
  15. I missed out on a one owner Mk1 Escort 2 door automatic with 13000 miles on it. Knew about it for long enough but never did anything about it. Car is still local but I doubt it could be got now
  16. could someone tell me how to put photos up . I will get my wife to do it as I,m not up to speed with this new fangled technology. If I cant put a spanner to it I.m pretty well stuffed
  17. I,ve decided to put my Anglia back on the road this year. It,s been stashed away for a couple of years while I finished my Cortina. I,m going to do a few more mods and will be changing the wheels and may add Broadspeed style stripes. It needs a few fixes but I,ll see how I get on.
  18. got one on my anglia cant say for sure if I noticed a handling difference but straight away if I hit a bump on the road the drivers side door latch gives a crack not sure thats good car is solid by the way mabye its flexing differently?
  19. does anyone remember a mk4 cortina that if Im correct used to run in the fourpot challenge in the late eighties that was organised by street machine magazine. As i remember it was a Roman bronze colour with a beige vinyl roof. I think it may have been a 2.2 or 2.3 pinto. I remember it as being very powerful and fast on the quarter mile. The owners surname was Hayman , I think. Does anyone remember and does it still exist?
  20. in a recent issue of custom car mag there was an article about a company making wings (rear ones i think) in both steel and aluminium dont know how much though
