In the car world these tend to be the people with 1.4l Fiesta's holding them on the rev limiter in the middle of the camp site at 1 in the morning. -

I think you have hit the nail on the head Money, i'm guessing the revenue is swinging towards these shows rather than publications. Im not totally apposed to opening up the show as I appreciate most things ford it just needs to be done in the right way. -
So I have seen on another forum that the age restriction for cars this year has now been raised to 1996, so that now means Mk6 escorts, Mk4 Fiesta's, Mondeo's, Ka's etc. are able to be shown on club stands. Now I'm not a hardcore old skooler but I think this is a step to far, I have always been on the side of having a full show instead of strictly sticking to age limits and having a empty show but when ever has there been any issue filling Classic Ford with Classis Fords, if the show was failing with poor attendance then I can understand shaking it up but from my experience there is always a reserve list for stand passes on here and the other forums I go on. Lets hope the clubs police there own stands with what cars are going on them to preserve the sprit of Classic ford as it seams the organiser's aren't interested Classic Ford should stay Classic and not be turned into another Ford Fair or Ford Fest.

Off to Malta next week to watch the drag racing, never been before so anyone have any advise for a first timer.

The guy who built my exhaust used Zircotec but he says the quality and service has gone down the toilet for the money they charge, so he swapped to Areocoat and says there as good as Zircotec used to be and a lot cheaper. And yes being local is also a bonus as if its crap I can take it back. If you can wait until the new year I will get mine done after Christmas I will let you know how well it works, was going to take before and after temps to compare.

I would think a v8 manifold would be £300 each at Zircotec, im going to get my down pipe done locally at Aerocoat cant paste links but just google them.

Well What did everyone think, For the first one i thought it was a good show it may not be for the hard core Old skool forders as the plastic out numbered the older cars but the old skool motors seamed to have the bigger crowds and the faster cars up the strip, so for me i thought it was a definite win for the old skool fords. It was good to let the OSFDC set up a mini pit in the middle of the show it always seamed to be swamped with people. I didnt see much going on in the Auto test area so not sure how well that worked out i think they should set it up as a burn out area/competition next time, I saw the cortina doing a rolling burn out all the way round the course thats what i want to see more off. For me i got a new PB of 12.65 and a dose of Pod face so a good end to the season roll on next year. I also want to say thanks to Joe and the crew to arranging these events through out the year and making sure everyone Ok, and also letting me use your boot .

I think the situation could be helped with the location of these meets i fully understand its not easy to find somewhere to put these things together and keep them going, You will not get any help from the police or council as they can not associate them selves with whats conciddered as anti social behaviour, but if you where on an industrial estate or none residential area where no complaints are recived im pritty sure you would get left alone. I personally like seeing cars being driven and the odd burn out i dont see as a major problem, how ever dont agree when people just driving by get caught up in it, i have seen box hill videos with a few near misses people pulling out at speed and getting pritty close to cars just driving by. I think the OSF scene is mainly made up of reasonabley sensible people and i dont see what i consider as dangerous driving may be annoying to some but not dangerous, the shear cost of these cars now prevents the real idiots from getting involved just be thankfull for that.

Wanted: your classic Ford projects
jamie956 replied to Arfur's topic in CLASSIC FORD MAGAZINE-SPEAK TO THE MANAGEMENT
My Cortina, I think you have had some photos from last year I got a message from the other Simon saying you wanted to feature it but haven't heard anything since. -
I wired mine with an on - off switch on the dash I find even in its lowest assist setting my car is a bit twitchy at speed with the power steering on and you can some times over steer the car when pushing it brilliant for getting it in and out of the workshop though.
-
Are you going to this one Brett, Im going to try make it. not managed to get to any shows since I saw you at north weald.
-
For anyone racing at FordFest there is going to be a old vs new face off 1990 split, two one hour sessions during the day.
-
Sometimes I feel the same these cars just fight you at every corner and drive you insane I could go on for ever with all the issues ive had, but when you get that one day a year where every thing is just right and it fly's down the road as it should it just sucks you back in.
-
What do you want to do with the car when its finished, that's what's really going to determine what engine choice you make.
-
Depends on your budget if building a hi spec engine a smith and jones or Millington alloy block would be considered as the best, but for your every day n/a YB then a 205 is the most common to use.

Is there a OSF rolling road day this year?

The Motul I mentioned before is pre mixed using deionised water, email opi oils they are very helpful and knowledgeable when recommending coolant's and oils.
-
I have used Motul Inugel optimal in my cosworth powered Cortina and my dads Essex v6 Cortina, my dads Essex runs noticeably cooler now before it would always get hot in traffic but it stays stable in all conditions now. Got it from Opi oils pre mixed.
