  1. Evening all, Does anyone have any recommendations about what form of radio to fit to my MK 2? I have the original and it'd be nice to keep it for the look of the thing so a small head unit that can play the radio/tapes would be good. Anyone got any ideas where to begin? I was considering shelling out for one of those expensive period type heads from Retrosound but £200 is a bit much for a radio when there's resprays and other bits to be done first. Any ideas/help appreciated
  2. Could've said the same to you about the Christmas #1 in the charts really though...?
  3. That's still quite a high number of viewers, surely?
  4. Bit like an OSF then?
  5. No more driving home from work, summer evenings are lighter and that means ales!
  6. Just don't get overexcited like this chap: http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/article-16449119-rugby-fan-cut-off-his-own-testicles.do
  7. No-one said it's easy, especially if you're giving up smoking at the same time. Think of this as an addiction as well and perhaps it'll be easier to be reasonable about. Just like smoking, it doesn't sound like this has been very good for your life in general mate, keep at it because if you go back to the way things were, it's only gonna get harder to quit.
  8. Good luck, quit a little over a month ago myself. Can be tough, especially if you've had a beer or three but stick with it, more money saved means more money for OSF.
  9. To cut a long story short, yeah Windows 7 is good; if it's on there you can half the requirements needed to run Vista and it'll still run pretty well. I'm using a Lenovo N100(see below) that I've had for 4 years now and it's on Windows 7 and running really smoothly, only got 1.5gb of RAM and a 1.5ghz processor, so if that can manage then any modern laptop should have no problems. What I'd say to look for, aside from price which is obviously a deciding factor is: A) Build quality, if it feels flimsy then don't bother. Any features you specifically want. C) Good reviews. If it's got all 3 of those then generally you're sorted. Dell's computers can be hit and miss, some of the models are really good but some aren't so much; sometimes it can be down to luck of the draw though.
  10. I don't want to wrap people's presents in that, I want mine wrapping in it!
  11. Go to www.trendmicro.co.uk and use their service 'Housecall' it finds virtually every instance of adware/malware/spyware known to man, it's free and it requires little to no technical knowledge or supervision. Just let it run.
  12. The Steampacket are a King joke, try living here; they're bloody awful and the only airline from the island is flybe who charge an arm and a leg as well. People seem to have the idea that everyone who lives here is loaded, well if I had any money I'd be able to leave here more than a couple of times a year. With regards to TT week though, I reckon that there's probably only a few years left. The government here have made such a monumental cock up the last few years I'm surprised anyone is even interested in coming any more, it was so much better 10 years + ago.
  13. Those results look quality. Shame it's only capable of carb sized objects, I'd have the whole car in there otherwise.
  14. Now that's a nice Mk2, if I can get mine to that kinda quality I'll be over the moon.
  15. That is a sweet escort, noticed the old favourite K & N type air-filter in use! Good man!
  16. These photos are from when I'd just got the car, will get some more recent ones up when there's actually been noticeable changes made.
  17. This is a great new system, been using it since the test versions were released and I'm happy to say it's been no problem, even on a 4 year old laptop.
  18. Friday night working till 22:00, oh the joy.
  19. Sounds like the first time I changed the oil with some assistance from the old man, went something like this: Dad: Can you see it? Me (from underneath the car): Yeah. Are you sure I can just undo the cap to release the oil? Dad: Yeah. *I undid the cap, oil then covers my face & neck which was followed by much profanity* Dad (repressing a laugh): What's up? Me: Got covered in f*cking oil, didn't I?! Dad: Oh yeah, should've said to move before it was completely undone. Bit daft but I'm sure we all make mistakes.

That's a good piece of work, what tattooist did you have do that?
  22. Hi, I'm Nick and a couple of months back I was lucky enough to get a hold of a Mk II Cortina, pre cross-flow, 4 door saloon. As well as being my first classic car, it's actually my first car at all; whilst it does seem a bit daft, I thought it'd be a good starting point to learn about car maintenance as everything seems much simpler than modern cars. Anyway, I'll get some photos of the car up at some point and hopefully within a little while it'll be vastly improved. Nice to see that there is quite a dedicated community to these older cars, beats a Citroen saxo or Peuguot hands down, in my opinion! So much more character!
