  1. Yeah I had it for 9 months, realised one day that I didn't have the time to look after it (due to having a bloody degree to finish and couldn't afford anywhere to store it) and spoke to that chap who said he wanted it to fix up and enjoy and look where it ends up, fleabay. Typical.
  2. But then what's the difference between a MK1 with a HDI engine being dropped in and a MK1 Zetec? Alright, one's Ford and one's a horrible French thing but with that aside, people do put newer engines in. I think that it can give a car a new lease of life if done right. I think the Zetec route would be a wise one, it seems that people know how to make that combination work.
  3. Just wandered across this; bit of a shock, thought the fella wanted it for keeps. Maybe he got bored... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1966-FORD-CORTINA-MK2-1500GT-RED-/160430362211?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item255a650e63#ht_2093wt_1165
  4. I think this is great but perhaps we should remember to respect others' culture when in their country; I can't help but feel embarrassed of those that move to places like Spain with no grasp of the culture, language etc and have the cheek to then complain about things like this. The Brits are hardly a nation of culture chameleons when elsewhere.
  5. Something I had a go at when having a break from my dissertation...
  6. Nah, the seller should tell you; when I sold my MK2 'Tina I let the guy know straight away what I'd done, what issues there seemed to be and pointed out that the sills and arches would need to be fitted properly to repair the bodge. Now, I could be an exception but the reason he gave me good money on it was because I'd been so honest with him about it. Of course, as has been said, that's if he knew.
  7. Whoever said it about Thatcher was right; without having sold off all British Industry, the coal, the steel etc. there could be state provided jobs which'd help work our own way out of the recession and might instill a bit of what the country's been lacking for years, national pride [and no, I don't mean those BNP pricks]. If you believe either of their packs of lies, you're a mug. However, if you vote Conservative you'll be doing the lot of us over, you'll soon see why Labour was voted in after they're back.
  8. Aye yeah, found out some c*nt had bodged repairs to the front arches and sills, fiber glassing the whole lot together. That pissed me off quite a bit so instead of calmly finding someone that could weld, I sold her. Unfortunate but the fella that bought the car had done previous restorations and I just didn't have the time. Gutted but I've got my ears open for any more and will make sure to have a proper check next time.
  9. How many other OSF owners do you know on the Isle . Two. One being a mate of mine who bought a Mk3 'Tina a little while ago and another being the fella I bought my Mk2 from. Sadly, I'm not currently an OSF owner as the Mk2 had to be passed on due to some major bodging but I'm saving up and got my eyes open for any more offers.
  10. True, but that's about the only highlight of living here.
  11. Would that even be road legal in that state?
  12. Saw this whilst on the hunt for a new car... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FORD-CORTINA-1600-XL-RED_W0QQitemZ160418281934QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAutomobiles_UK?hash=item2559acb9ce What were they thinking?!
  13. What a cracking job, get it out and get some fun out of it!

You heard any of their new stuff? Liked their debut album, reminded me of a faster paced Ac/Dc but am unsure about whether to splash out on another if it's (like older Ac/Dc) pretty much the same formula.

    Very Taxi Driver, I reckon.
  16. You'd have thought that having kept the engine bay components one colour it'd at least match the car.
  17. Dunno about in the UK but from what I know here, you have to be very fit in order to be a fireman and generally (as usual it's not what, it's who you know) it helps if you can provide a recommendation from within the fire service too. If you recall the 'bleep test' from school, I think you have to be pretty good at that in order to qualify for the third round of interviews as it's featured in the fitness tests they administer, it also helps to have a first aid qualification of some kind.
  18. Could be because it's not classed as a classic/old car by the insurers themselves?
  19. Hope the dickheads responsible have been locked up. Good to hear that occasionally there's a happy ending though.
  20. I blame television. You shouldn't judge a book by its cover as the old adage goes though. Pisses me clean off when people look at you, think you're some kind of dope and treat you as such just because you're not some bloody yuppie.
  21. Schools teaching religious tolerance perhaps? To be honest though, what good is any religious education to a child aside from a philosophy / set of morals?
  22. Is really all that needs to be said on the matter.
  23. Who gives a flying fook? I've been to schools in Scotland and here on the IOM and in both instances uniform was compulsory for all. I went to 6th form and office dress was compulsory. The only place I haven't had to wear uniform was at university and to be honest, I wish there had been because students dress like queers.
  24. Jesus, what a ballbag that fella was being. Glad to see it hasn't been taken to heart, if anything in relation to the tatts you've done, at least you're happy with them. That's what's important. Self righteous nob-ends are not what any scene needs.
  25. Can sympathise entirely, started fitting wing mirrors today and after marking and drilling holes, it started to piss down. Couldn't hold the mirror, hands were so wet so I bolted on the rubber instead and left it until another day. Typical.
