  1. i'll be up for a huntingdon meet...... There is a Cambridge meet.... I think its officially the first Thursday of the month.. And its at a pub just off the M11 at Duxford Although this months was moved to last night. It was intimate...
  2. 4 - Anglia Saloon needs some finishing off, Anglia van needs an exhaust and a power lift, 3 Door Cossie needs some love, Anglia Estate that needs an MOT and needs selling :( Too many cars... not enough money... but no scope to down size the fleet
  3. If you are using other peoples pics it is common courtesy to credit the person under the pic, in small text. The only thing that naffs me off is when people use my pics on their website but dont ask permission or credit me. Manners are free mate, no harm in asking.. you never know you might get more from the person.
  4. Tweak the Zetec in my Anglia Saloon up to about 200-220bhp 200bhp Duratec in my Anglia van And just turn the wick up on my Cossie from 350 to 500bhp
  5. There wasnt an Anglia Estate running round was there ?
  6. ME! really gutted i didnt go now seen the damn thing so many times though i prefer fireforce 1 though for sum reason that was Fireforce 1
  7. 1uk3m4n were you actually there ? Or did you just nick my pics from Alcoholics Anonymous ? The pics were taken by Chris Unwin from the Beds RS Group. It was horrific, watching it all unfold in front of your eyes, less than 50 yards from where we were stood, seemed like an age before anyone reacted and the car was just burning on the track. Cant believe the driver got out seemingly unharmed.
  8. I was reading in Classic Fart this month about blocks and the first two numbers are the year so 711m is 1971 So your 791m is 1979 which is about right for a SuperSport.
  9. I hope you obliged with a big blip on the throttle Mike to let them know you had something under the bonnet.... I had the asian fella at the local garage telling me I shouldnt be putting super unleaded in that old car as it will cause damage to the valves etc. I smiled and said... dont think that will be a problem... and left..... sideways
  10. You could always be a little different and run MkI Mexico Steels
  11. That would be so you will be too pissed to try it on.... and if you do get a stiffy she'll be perfectly sober to fend you off......
  12. A standard 1600 from a MkII Cortina is 71bhp at 5000rpm and 91.5lb/ft torque at 2500 according to the data book A GT is 88bhp at 5400rpm with 96lb/ft torque at 3600
  13. I had that on my blue van. Did a load of work, big valve head, single 45, Aldon Dizzy, 4 into 1 manifold and then rollered it, it made 49bhp at the wheels, and about 74 at the fly. Ironically it actually made the same power and a little more torque with the 28/36 on it. It made no real power after 4500 rpm, and that was because it had a standard cam in it. However, when we installed the same single 45 on the engine that was in my saloon, that made an additional 9bhp over the 28/38 but that had a lot more work done to it. But dubious about only 12bhp of transmission losses though between the flywheel and road wheels.
  14. Definatelty NOT the case We do custom props as well as the uprated 1200 Anglia one. Make you anything you want, within reason. Just need Yoke Type, Flange Size, measurement from diff flange to gearbox oil seal and then expected torque & bhp figures. And then deliver it to your door using an overnight courier service. Turnaround is normally 4 working days. My own personal experience of Reco Prop when I tried them a while back was they werent interested, there was a long wait and the bloke on the phone just didnt seem bothered. Perhaps there were soo many people going there after a 'Retro Recommendation' that they didnt need any more business
  15. a 1500 is no harder to find than a front drop sump and oil pickup from a MkII Cortina to get your Crossflow in there. Then you have to dick about with engine mounts as the crossflow block is wider on the exhaust side to a pre-crossflow so you have to slot the engine mount and or crossmember mounting holes. The original throttle linkage will have to be replaced with cable, then you have the issue of Sprung vs Diaphragm clutch to content with and bearing spacers etc etc SO... I'd keep an eye out for a 1500 if I was you. Or even a 1340cc Classic engine, or a 1300 Pre-crossflow from a MkII Cortina, Ultra Rare... but a nice thing to have.
  16. HI Jim-bob Get your feeler gauges out and set those tappets properly, if its rattling its not running the right gap and therefore you could be loosing valuable horses... As for detonation resulting in a rod coming out the side of the block, I think thats a little bit of memory clouded by time. Rods leaving the block, or 'putting a leg out of bed' is nearly always caused by oil starvation, its not caused by the timing being a few degrees out. If you havent already, then treat the old girl to some of the best 20/50w oil you can find, set the tappets and see how she goes. If you have a spin on filter then the oil pump has been changed for some reason, there may have been a problem with the original and this could have either caused a failure at some point in the past, hence the non-black engine block or there could have been some damage to bearings due to low oil pressure and thats what the groaning is now. Alternatively you've got some crap oil in it thats too thin. I wouldnt fit a 1300 crossflow as a replacement, I'd go for a 1500 pre-crossflow as its an easier swap and its more power
  17. One turn of the rear shaft should give two turns of the front shaft
  18. Looking at that pic it is very unlikely, unless someone has swapped the gears in it that it would be the magical Lotus Cortina Box. Thats a Mexico / RS1600 or Series I 1600E/GT box. You can tell this as it has the reversing light switch boss on the top just ahead of the top cover plate.
  19. What does the box look like ? Where is the gear shift position ? If the box is apart you will need to count the teeth on the gears. I will have a look and see if I can find the number of teeth per gear for you.
  20. Oh and its probably worth pointing out the other small faux pas in the article. The Milton quick shift will ONLY fit in the 2000E / Mexico style box with the shift at the rear NOT in all three rail boxes as the article suggests.
  21. The way to do it is to put the box is first, mark the front and rear shaft with tipex and then spin the rear shaft one complete turn. Count the number of turns the front shaft makes. A 2000E box should be :- 1st 2.97 : 1 2nd 2.0 : 1 3rd 1.4 : 1 4th 1:1 If you get more than three turns (3.6) on the front its a boat anchor. If you get less than three turns on first then its Whoo-Hoo E-bay here we come... Classic Ford didnt explain it in the easiest way, as they used 2nd gear as the one to check, not wrong by any means. The mega rare Lotus Cortina box has the following ratios 1st 2.5 : 1 2nd 1.64 : 1 3rd 1.23 : 1 4th 1:1 BUT Beware MkI Lotus Cortina boxes from 1964 onwards as their first gear ratio is rubbish. Proper family of 4 towing a caravan stuff 1st 3.54 : 1 2nd 2.0 : 1 3rd 1.4 : 1 4th 1:1
  22. Where you going to be rollered ?
  23. Its your age.....

To put it on the main 105Speed site you need to mail the pics to me (neil@105speed.com) and I'll sort it out when I finally get round to updating the site. If you want to put it in the gallery on the Forum then its the same as you would do here.
