Hi Guys Yes there are some problems with the server the forum is located on, they have a safety mechanism on it which prevents too many people connecting to the database at anyone time. No, the world isnt being over run with Anglia Owners, its on a server with several other forums. Lots of people have been experiencing a message 'Too Many Connections to the Database' others have had slow running and occasionally a post or two has gone awry, usually when there has been a 'Too Many Connections' error. All this has been reported to 'Hyperboards' the company that supply the service and they are working to resolve the problems. Apologies for any inconvenience.

The only thing they have got a little cuter about is if you break down at a race venue, ie the Pod, or somewhere where there is a trackday going on, they can refuse to recover you because potentially you have broken the car using it in a manner not akin with normal driving. I know a while back a friend of ours had a little autication at a track day, they pushed the car outside the circuit and when the Recovery company turned up they rang Race Control to see if it had been on track.

Heres another extract to mull over..... :- The use of "dollies" is intended for the recovery of broken down vehicles, not for the transportation of a vehicle from "A" to "B". Under Regulation 83 of C&U a motor car is permitted to tow two trailers when one of them is a towing implement and the other is secured to and either rests on or is suspended from the implement. Therefore as a trailer if the maximum laden weight of the dolly exceeds 750 kg it must be fitted with operational brakes, additionally the brakes on the wheels of the second trailer (the towed car) must work and meet the specified requirements. Again this would be very difficult for the rear brakes of a motor car, on their own, to meet the 50% braking efficiency required for a trailer. The dolly would also be required by Regulation 22 of C&U to be fitted with suspension. Regulations 19 and 22 in C&U permit a broken down vehicle to be recovered without complying with these requirements. However, there is further legislation under the Road Traffic Act that introduces a limitation on the maximum speed that the combination can be driven; this is 40mph on motorways and 20mph on other roads.

Errrrr, how many road cars only weigh 750kg's ? Pintos are shit in Anglias due to their size and weight and what you've got to do to get them in. XE's aint much better.. which is why every Anglia you see hasnt got one in it. If your budget is limited, stick to well trodden paths of pre-crossflow or crossflow. Zetec is just THE engine to have in an Anglia, its the modern day equivilant of the Lotus Twin Cam, BUT it isnt a cheap conversion, althought everything is available off the shelf to get one in.

That would be my favourite. Happened to me a while back. It still feels like you've got a clutch pedal but when it comes to the crunch you havent because the cylinder is moving in the colar on the bellhousing. The original snap ring that holds the slave cylinder in place wears or looses its grip on the cylinder and it moves I have started supplying a Circlip with all my Mexico cylinders to eliviate this very problem.

I've just got an Organic AP Pinto clutch on my Zetec... seems to copy with 178bhp and 48lb/ft torque.. I can get a price for you as I deal with an AP Disti for other stuff if you like.

Guys..... People keep saying the Zetec is 130bhp... and yes they are in a Mondeo or Focus (also RS1800i fiesta, XR3i & Cabrios) But when you get them on a pair of 40's on an 1800 or 45's on a 2.0 they are 155bhp & 165bhp respectively. Add some cams and you are up near 180bhp Its easy, reliable power.

I used to think like you fellas..... I loved my old school Pre-Crossflow... had all the trick period tuning bits... but when I had a auld fella in a Fiat Multipla blew my doors off I knew it was time to step it up a gear and now I've got the Zetec I just think why didnt I do this years ago... They are just so the right engine for an Anglia.... some things are worth the wait....

To be honest Luke I think you will be replacing diffs before you replace half shafts... I dont think I've ever met anyone who's lunched a pair of Anglia shafts, but I've met a few who've killed diffs...

Dave at Retro Ford recently put a Zetec in my Anglia... its superb, wish I'd done it years ago. Its a 2.0 black top, with cams and head porting and makes 178bhp and 148lbft on a pair of 45's with Omex management. Duratec is also an option, talk to Dave as he's been through the pain and also done a lot of development for products to get one in an Escort. I think he is still one of a very very small number of people to get one in a road going escort. Given the choice of the two, if I was on a budget then it would be Zetec and probably in the form of an ST170 motor. If money was no object then Duratec on a pair of Titan Motorsport Direct to Head Roller Barrels.....

I've got one in the shed I was going to supercharge as the Shorrock C75b blowers can only run up to 1300..... so it would be ideal, and its 5 bearing crank, big valve head (well same size as a 1500) So.. even if you blow it to bits in the OSFDC keep the head...
