I have only 4 days to go until I pick my freshly painted mk2 shell up!!! I have been waiting for 5 months!!! The thing is I have most things however I need all new bolts. Does anyone know of a supplier. I want them to all match and not be different colours(all silver). The thing is they need to be the right sizes pitch etc. Anyone used a good supplier??

I have rung him this morning and told him. He is going to relist it. He isn't bothered about it and proceeded to tell me that loads of mexicos must have been reshelled so it doesn't matter. Not for me though as I do want a genuine one. I will continue to look for the right one and thanks for the advice. I am going to join the AVO club etc to help to find the right one. Thanks guys you saved me from that one!!! Lesson learnt....

I only left a small deposit today so not too worried. The car is quite nice however I do want an authentic Mexico not a reshell I couldn't live with it as I when I do one I want it to be standard and not modified. It's a shame however it's better to lose a couple of quid rather than a boat load. Thanks for the info Mick really appreciate it. Now the search starts again for a mk1 Mexico ....... I am after a mexico as my mk2 i am doing is an all fast car.The thing is the car is paperwork wise 100% and to be fair the shell is pretty good too.I think they must of used a gt or xl shell as the clock aperture hasnt been hacked.I think I will have to sleep on it.The trouble is i really like it however do i 9K like it!!

Thanks Mick.Very kind of you.I spent over an hour today deciding whether it was a type 49 or not.It has so many things right.The only the thing was the boot floor which does have rivet heads in but have been badly ground back.All the other mexico bits are there and the dash panel is correctly formed behind the clocks.The paperwork seems ok as well.Its a bit tatty in areas but generally straight and ok.He wants 9k.I think with a little work it could be made very authentic as everything else matches up.What do you think???? The AVO tag is now on it in the right place.The numbers match the vin tag.

The chassis number on the top strut plate matches the vin tag and the AVO plate and the logbook. The strut top plates look original as well.Thanks for the info Dal.Is there anything it should have that no-one could blag on it??

I took the clocks out and the dash hadnt been hacked.The chassis number is stamped on the left strut top as well. It has spring hanger skids and tramp bars as well.

Who's was the dark grey metallic mk1 escort??? Reg no starts ETJ. I thought that car was stunning!!! Love to know the paint colour/ code as well!! There were many nice cars on the stand a credit to all those that attended. Hopefully next time I will there with mine as well. Well done everyone makes me proud to be oldskool!!
