i don't have the log book has it was in my dads name and he lost it.....i was told by dvla that all i needed to do was to take it to a mot station and get it moted.....i was told that it had to be after a made after a certain date it needed to have a test done cant remember which year it was but it was alot later than the cortina was made.....i know id have to send off for another log book but the main question is how much more insurance would be for a car that was written off........all i know about the car it was stolen and rolled in to a ditch.....im still trying to get my dad to let me see it,so i know how much work will be involved and for me and to start collecting panels for it...even tho he said i can have it....he is stubbon has a mule some times and its been a few years ( feels like a centry )me nagging him for me to see it,has it was written off back in 1977

think these comments are a load of tosh. 1 is they wont payout on a car twice 2nd is this insurance is more. tbh id send off £19 for lost log book and see what happens or i will get the details/phonenumber for u to ring. tho i think ur biggest fight will be the car being sat up for so long. they probaly wont have it registerd or moved the plate on. do a dvla check on the reg plate and see what comes up

I am with Jason here mate, don't dig any deeper than you have to. Fill out a form, hand over £19, and wait for the postman - Simple :D

As for the insurance side of things, this is nonsense. An insurance company never asks if that particular vehicle has been in an accident and repaired, they only ask about the driver.

I cannot see a car with an accident that old having been classed with a category. Me and a mate of mine rebuilt his Fiesta Zetec-S which he bought salvage as a Cat C write off. Cat C was given because it was repairable, but un-economic as it has suspention damage. Anything Cat D does not need what is called a VIC test (Vehicle Identity Check). All this test is for is to make sure the identity of the car is correct before the DVLA re-issues a log book. The log book would have been given back to the insurance company when they collected the car and paid out.

Anything Cat C and above excluding Cat A, will need a VIC test. Cat A is a total loss category and the vehicle will be broken up by an approved dismatlers for parts only.

Get a log book applied for and see what the word is
