A: if you see a thread thats becoming an argumentitive one ..dont add fuel, calm it down, work with the posters to keep it nice.

B: someone is searching for something, you know itd been posted before so go find the link (please, no more " will 7" Rs Alloys fit my mk1" )

C: If you see a blatently offensive post, send it to the Mod listed online at the bottom of the Index Page.

Why pm it and not just ask on the forum?

cus you end up with 4 pages of spam

whats the big deal with being a mod any ways, only mean u get all the abuse comeyour way

Because it puts the staff in an awkward position. 9 times out of 10 you will be chosen to be a mod. Have you ever heard the saying people who ask don't get. You could argue that people who don't ask don't get anyway but, there are ways of asking without asking! What exactly is it you want to be moderator of anyway?

if you have to ask this question then you're not ready to be a mod...

chill steven-son. once you have accieved true inner peace with all things osf then you will be ready to be a mod. you have to be patient. a dog does not hunt for its food because it knowas if it is patenit it will come when it is read as will the oppertunity to be a mod...when you are ready (to be said karate kid style)

Being a mod can be a thankless responsibility, it consumes a chunk of personal time, you have to make hard decisions about peoples conduct, & often get blasted for being the face of the dispute.

The author may type something one way & have one perspective but the perception of the reader can be very different. Mods don't ban people solely on their own volition, it's always a consensus of opinion unless it's blatant.

I've moderated a number of technology forums in the past & have had all sorts of threats from physical violence to tracking me down online & destroying my identity/stealing it. These are supposedly educated people too.

Technology is improving, bad language filters run on these things so Mr Tourettes can't go off on one.

Like the film, the first rule of mod club is don't talk about mod club!

Cheeky Monkey coming to get you!

i've been reading through this thread and your comments have really got on my tits so please SHUT UP YOUNG-UN

now i can post ! my impression of becoming a mod on OSF is giving ever ounce of energy to help OSF carry on running, you need to be dedicated, hardcore and genuinly want to help OSF - oh and deleting porn/drug spammers at 4 in the morning

and as far as im aware, becoming a mod comes through love and trust

long live OSF :ykt:
