knackered engine!!!!!!!

bloody thing. not long motd, out driving the other day, it overheated. got it back to the garage ok and changed thermostat and water pump (slightly noisy). after that seemed ok. took it out yesterday, overheated again and now runs only on 5 cyls, with a loud rattling noise on startup, and a bit of smoke. pops and bangs on throttle.

got to be head / headgasket gone.

was supposed to be taking it to wheels day tomorrow.

bloody thing will be off the road for a few weeks now.

 

if its not one thing its another.

 

on a lighter note, was doing a few bits to it the other day outside workshop (on a fairly busy road), when the local police bmw pursuit car pulled up. i thought here we go, what have i done! the cop in the passenger seat wound down his window and said "nice car, do you want to sell it!" after saying no, he asked what cc it was.when i said it was a 3.0lt, he said "i bet that goes". i replied "i havent really driven it much yet, although it does wheelspin through first, second and third gears!" the driver then speaks up with "we'll have to meet up one night to see if we can catch it"!

i had to laugh, being offered out by the local constabulary.

as he pulled away, his last words were " be seeing you one evening then".

who says the police havent got a sense of humour

Might be easier just to buy another essex . Mine did the same and when we took the heads off the piston ring had snapped and wrecked the bore when it over heated . Another essex was only £100 and an afternoons work ....

i got two coppers lookig at my 16e at the lights, i revved the engine and grinned like a proper spaz, the passenger laughed at me, and the driver looked abit nervous, like i was gonna try and gun it away or something i dont think i've ever been so worried about clutch control

ive got spare heads, although a mate is finding out about an essex currently sitting in a mk2 transit ambulance going for scrap, so either way not the end of the world just bloody annoying that i cant be out in it.
